Trunk Lid Adjustment

Morning Fellas,
Back at it this weekend and ran into a snag. I can't seem to get the deck lid lined up properly. I removed the latch and can get great gaps in the front and back and it level all the way around. My problem comes with the gaps where the lid meets the quarters. Both the trunk lid and quarters are original to the car and lined up much better before disassembly. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I've attached pics of the gaps as well as pics of the torsion bars in case I messed something up with the hinges. Thanks!

There is not really any "adjustment" points on the trunk lid.  You have to "shove" the lid around till you're satisfied.  You can get a little help by moving the lock mechanism around but be careful that you do not make it too hard to lock/unlock the lid.  You may be able to get a little side-to-side help by adding some kind of spacer behind the plastic cam bushings that ride on the trunk hinge.

Edit:  Just thought, you might swap the hinges, side-to-side, and see if that helps.   :shruggy:

I had to do some "gentle" persuading with a wooden shim to get things in place.   :Twocents:

Have any of y'all had trouble with the plastic rollers under the hinges wanting to slide off the spring ends when you close the trunk? I can't close mine all the way because it looks like the springs would come off the hinges and give me another project I don't want to play with and yes I did post this as a topic a few days ago,
Thank you!

My plastic rollers have a lip on each end that keeps them on.  Got any pics of your setup?

I have them set up the same at the pictures already posted at the top, but mine are set at the first tension hole, I am having issues with pictures and I can't post them, my rollers are brand new with the lips but they want to slide off the ends of the springs and at the same time the rollers slide under the hinges, its like the springs don't like the rollers and the rollers don't like the hinges and every one is trying to run away at the same time, I could probably email the pictures to anyone that's wants to see them, but other then that this site does not like my Nexus 7 tablet a whole lot, or maybe I have that backwards

can you take a few more pictures ,  one each side like you have already done ( the first two ) ( same angle ) but show the whole length of the deck lid & rear quarter gap , so it shows  edge of the deck lid to the rear quarter extension  . also afull length picture of the gap at  the rear  between the deck lid & the rear filler / Dutchman panel.
Feel free to post any relevant picture you think we all might like to see in the threads below!

Thanks for all the advice. I did some more searching on the site and found what I was looking for. I was just being a little too gentle. I used paint sticks around the perimeter to give me a perfect gap all the way around. Worked Great!
