Hello charger lovers! Its been a while since I've been on, or worked on my car, I moved 3.5 Hours away from my parents house for school and left my 69 in the garage nice and safe! That's enough about my life, how's everyone been?
I  managed with the help of my best friend Hemi Don, to get most of the side windows in my car and operating! Just missing 1 slide roller for the rear and kind of bummed it $80 for the set of rollers and I just need one but oh well.
So I had Don help me get the torsion bars or springs installed in the trunk and the deck lid on!! But when I pull the lid down the ends of the springs deflect down and plastic rollers start to slide off the ends of the springs and the hinges end up walking half off the plastic rollers when the trunk lid is still open 6 inches at the back, but when I let the lid open all the way up the return to where they started, and the springs are installed correctly and set to the 1st hole for least tension, and they at STIFF! Any ideas why this is happening and how to fix it? I'm afraid if I close the lid all the way the springs will pop off the hinges and hurt my paint and put a nice Wang on something

Also I'm having a glass company come install my windsheild and back glass Tuesday forma whopping $285 for some urethane and labor only, and I have the clips for the trim and I found the dandy picture for placing the holes but I have no idea how high the clips are supposed to sit from the edges of the frame or below the body metal, and this is for the rear window, and any ideas to make a spacer for the window to sit on to hold it at the right height when installed? I just read about them and never seen or heard of them before

Thanks and God bless!

I can't my tablet which is a Nexus 7 takes too big of photo to post, even if it its just one, and the camera sucks too, errg, it seem that the torsion bars are too strong and the ends with the rollers bend allowing everything to walk off the end, sorry I know pictures tell all, but I also know these springs are installed correctly and the problem is baffling to us, thank you!
P.S. is it possible the hinges are loose because they are not straight up and down, they sit it an angle slightly, but because it's not a bolt holding them I have no idea how to tighten or straighten them, and the bolts to the deck lid are tight, maybe I'm missing something, I have a pivot point, hinge, spring, and square rollers and deck lid bolted on, nothing else but the car
P.S.S. ideas to get pictures up are more then welcome! But I only have this tablet to use.

Here are pics I took this morning for you to compare.  Your torsion springs seem to be curved either from tension or maybe bent.    :shruggy:

Edit:  I don't think it is possible to swap them side-to-side but maybe...what do I know :eek2:

Thanks alot tantop!!
The top pictures are with the trunk most closed, and the bottom 2 are with the trunk at fully open, they aren't bent, one is stiff as all get out though and both sides deflect from the tension while it closes

Miller time,  looking at the pics of your hinges (hard to tell from pics)  The torsion springs may be ok, BUT, I would look closely at the hinges themselves, what about reversing them?? They look like they slant into the trunk which could cause you problem.  Mine either point straight down or slant to the outside of the car.  Look closely at the pics and your hinges.

They do when I close the trunk, they have a wobble to them when they're not under tension, but I looked at the pivot points and they don't look adjustable, I had thought putting the lid on would straighten them up but it didn't help much at all, I've never had the hinges off and I think I'd wreck the retainers trying to fiddle with them, like say putting washers on to space them or something like that, but it looks like my torsion bars deflect alot more then tantops when closing the lid aswell, maybe I should just leave the lid of and make it a charmeno or elcharger,   :smilielol: :smilielol: :slap:

SUCCESS!!!!!!!
It was mentioned by GREEN69RT, and my friend Gill across the road after he saw it to switch the torsion bars around so he held the trunk lid and I swapped them, and it works now!! The hinges still ride over the end of the rollers about 1\4 of the way when fully closed, and the ends of the torsion bars still deflect some but it's a Major improvement and I'm going to call it a finished project, but now I need to dandy metal clips to hold the torsion bars together

Special thanks to TAN TOP for posting my pictures and taking some of his car!
Y'all are awesome
