That's because the interior is black. That's its saving grace.  ;)

I know not every ones favourite year or color !!   these time warp cars don't come along everyday as good as this looks in the pictures  anyway , no under side shots though ? :scratchchin: !   trunk floor needs a good used original fitting & blending in to look as close as ... imo

303 Mopar

So what would you guys do with this car?  Full blown stock restoration?  Update it with new suspension/brakes/electrica/mechanical components?  Making it more of a muscle car or resto-mod?  Or just leave it as is?

Shka-bam ! Instant awesome

The biggest issue with the car is the console, A/C, black interior, and wheel covers.
If your old enough, those options seem out of place on a Coronet (68,69,70).

I'd leave it as is...while I gathered parts to turn it into a Super Bee clone. Then...shka-bam! :icon_smile_big:

I'm probably old enough but not following you, except on the hubcaps. How is the console and black interior out of place?

Agree, I'm not very old but I'm assuming most Super Bees did not have consoles while Coronets did??

I'd remove the mud flaps, correct the trunk floor issues, put either Chrome Magnum 500's or Rallyes with white lettered 60 series tires on it, install bigger torsion bars, and XHD leaf springs, plus "Firm Feel" front and rear anti-sway bars, then drive and enjoy it.
While not my favorite shade of green I don't mind the color. And although 1965 through 1969 are my favorite Coronets, I kind of like the 1970 styling.
This car looks pretty solid and could make for an enjoyable cruiser.

First and just in case, "you" was general and not addressing anyone directly.  Just want make sure the comment wasn't taken the wrong way somehow. :2thumbs:

As to the post :  During that time period it seemed like every Coronet was triple green and low option.  Granted there were the performance packages, but even then they were more apt to be stripes and performance as opposed to creature comfort.

Performance packages aside, in the 60's and 70's most models had three trim levels.  Price wise highest trim level of one model often overlapped the next model up.  A highly option Coronet could compete with a base model 4dr Polara or a Charger.  In addition, at the time, the Coronet was positioned as an economy model.  Therefore, highly optioned Coronets were more rare.

As we know green was very popular during that time.  So for me, I remember every Coronet as plain and green.
This car is a very nice car.  I wouldn't change a thing.  It just conflicts with my memory.  ;)

Just a note:  I'm referencing the 68, 69, 70.  Prior to 68 it was a little different.   After 70 the overlap became even greater.

fc7_plumcrazy

I don't get it.

There are not many original mostly untouched Coronets left.

Most Coronets have been driven into the ground, parted or butchered.
Many were turned into Super Bee clones.

There is no need to make another Super Bee clown out of it.
There are many more Super Bees out there then untouched Coronets.

I think it looks great including the original wire wheel covers.
No need for Rallies or 15" Ford Magnums chrome style

Just my 2 cents

yeah. I hear ya on that as well. But I can't think of the last time I've seen a 70 Coronet ANYTHING. I just know myself I'd get really bored of that car as a driver knowing what it could look like with little effort.

But the wire wheel covers gotta go !  :Twocents: :Twocents:    4 cents!

Bronzedodge

I'll second that - it's a 500.  You don't see a lot of 500's at shows.  Or maybe they have been already modified, painted, emblems removed.  I'd leave it alone.   :coolgleamA:
Mopar forever!

Sublime/Sixpack

I could be wrong but I don't think those wire style wheel covers are actually original to that car.

Neat car for sure, I would put factory tips out the back and a set of 15" Cragar SS mags on Polyglass Goodyears and that's it. I wonder why they did not post any engine pics?  :slap:

haven't checked the paperwork of this car but the were at least optional

GOTWING

Yes that wheel cover was available on the 1970 Coronets, I have factory literature showing them even on a 70 Superbee, that wheel cover was produced on a long run of different models and years.

Sublime/Sixpack

Yes, I stand corrected about the wheel covers. I was at a Dodge dealership this morning and we checked their old parts book for 1970 Dodge wheel covers and there they were.

Perfect candidate for a Superbee/RT replica/rebody built to one's specs/desires or hang some new AMD 70 Sat/RR rear qtrs, 70 Sat/RR trunk lid/finish panel/lights/etc, and you have the beginnings for a Superbird clone/rebody

GOTWING

::) :brickwall: it's a Perfect candidate to leave it alone ! if it was parked in a row of 70 R/T's and Superbees at Carlisle I would walk right up to it first as I walked by the others to get to it.  :slap:

true !!  while custom  , OEM resto , over restored  & anything in between are awesome to look at & inspect  :scope:  :yesnod:   its the unrestored original  & the older 70s / day two  survivor  types ,I would look at first  :yesnod:
