New batt... AGM for a driver car?

My car is on a deep body and paint job... Allmost 3 years since that. When finished, will need a new batt. Is the Mopar repro AGM Batt a good option for a DRIVER car? Os is just for shows? Is more durable and trustable than a regular acid batt?

  My friend known since early 80's owns a battery shop. He always told me most important factor is date of manufacture. The "clock starts" when the acid is added.  Generally speaking your just buying time.  :2thumbs:

Right, but Nacho's asking if that appearance correct battery is a suitable battery to use in a car that's driven regularly.  A lot of good an authentic battery is if it leaves him stranded somewhere.   Also, they're pretty expensive aren't they?

As far I have found the price rate is $200-250. And my interest on get a dry battery is to get it shipped to Venezuela. Regular Acid battery won't be posible to get it shipped overseas.

That's my interest. If I was sure that get one locally will be easy, really I don't care about those.

Since I would be getting one AMG, then get a correct Mopar look piece is a plus.

The local crisis is so heavy that we are out of stock on EVERYTHING. A 27 group battery won't be easy to find, and will be on a wating list trying to get one forever.

They don't make car battery's in South America?

Put a mini starter in and use a battery for a late model Pick up truck.  :Twocents:

I have read about the inflation and shortages in Venezuela. And I thought the 70's with Carter as President where bad.

The only problem I have had with an AGM battery is if you do run them totally dead, they are hard to recharge. Special charger required.

Yes, and in fact we usually were exporters of REALLY GOOD batterys to Colombia and Brasil. Situation is being really HARD here in Venezuela to get ANYTHING... ( even food )

Check any of these videos of ppl waiting to get one. They ( us ) usually wait 24 to 48 hours to get it ( sleeping into the car ).

beside that, group 27 battery it was already hard to find 5 years ago when I got mine. Now will be way harder!!! ( maybe imposible )

AGM battery will be at this moment unnacesible... will have to go to Colombia and get one. Fortunatelly my car is around one and a half hour from the Colombian border

If you are making a 100 point correct restoration, I'd worry about the battery.

Otherwise, on a modified car, why worry ??   :shruggy:
I've never owned anything but a MoPar. Can you say that?

Actually, my need is not a 100% restoration car really, like the actual Venezuelan crisis to get a 27 group battery ( or any battery actually... Or tires... Or food  ). Since I'm overseas, need a dry batt, and thought on the AGM resto for this.

No wonder Summit doesn't have them listed anymore. That's where I got my TurboStart Mopar resto.

Despite my vow to charge it every month while I was ripping the engine and interior apart, I managed to let it sit for over a year. Despite that, the battery voltage never went below 12, and charging it was no problem at all.

For those of you who don't know what AGM means, it's Absorbed Glass Mat, and the acid is already in the battery when it's shipped. No "start date," no bottles of acid shipped with the battery.
