Anybody use a DNA kit from Ancestry dot Com?

This is a good way for uncle sam to get your DNA without a warrant.

They can already take your DNA without a warrant.  

Agree  We leave a cloud/slime of DNA wherever we go. It's almost pointless to expect we can dodge an effort to identify us as needed.
Good luck to those that feel the need to keep their DNA to themselves. However public bathrooms would be much cleaner if we had better control.

Great topic and one I didn't expect to find on a car site!

My Dad when he died, to me, was my DAD!
Then Mum tells me, he weren't your Dad.
Well eer yes he was, for 35 years!!!

So he has been gone along time now and my computer always gets 'Ancestry' emails...
I didn't know they did DNA stuff as it never crossed my mind.
But maybe just maybe I could find my 'REAL' fathers family.

I have his surname and not alot else.
He was a POPE or is a POPE, or could have been the POPE, I'm not quite sure???
Anyways he ran away and left my Mum up shite creek without a paddle...
So he not my real Dad,,, the Man who looked after me for 35 years is MY REAL DAD!!!

We don't really need DNA testing, we just need to be faithful to our wives and girlfriends and our partners, and they need to tell us the truth about the randy MILKMAN...
That also works in reverse if you are the Randy Milkman, go home and tell your wife all the names of the desperate housewives you KNOCKED-UP!!!

I'll tell you it's kinda like a treasure hunt. In my own family, I had heard our last name wasn't our real last name and we were descended from a Cherokee chief. But no one knew the exact details. I found out tracking paper trails and such that our current last name came about circa 1800 when my GGGGG Grandmother was widowed with 2 boys. Her husband that died was a Revolutionary war veteran from SC. They had since moved to TN and I believe he had been given land as a reward from the war, but I can't prove that just yet. She remarried and those 2 boys took the last name of their adopted dad.  Apparently that was common back then. She had more children with him, then unfortunately he passed away. Her children were taken by the state circa 1815 because she was destitute. They were sent into indentured servitude. Slavery anyone? So, my last name has been my last name since about 1800 or so.

Her grandson, my GGG Grandfather married a Cherokee lady who was indeed descended from a Chief. She and her family probably had some white in them as they escaped the Trail of Tears and managed to stayed in East TN. (Side note, the Cherokee's will not recognize me or my family nor let us join any tribes because they did not get sent to a reservation.) My GGG Grandfather died at Vicksburg from Smallpox leaving behind several children. My GGG Grandmother, left the children with family, remarried and moved west. I won't bore you with anymore of my family history. But, the point is, I found out much of the above through Ancestry.com. You'll be amazed at what you'll find. Now connecting with other people that share your DNA is also cool and you're likely to find out much more or even find people have letters, documents, etc. that you could get copy's of.

Collected without the guy's knowledge, after they refused permission.  This was not during an arrest, just questioning.  


The collection was ruled admissable in court - precedent set.  Civil right lost.  

If you never get arrested, they can not collect DNA.

I guess you can write your name and ssn every time you leave a sample?

I sent my and the wife's samples in today.  Gonna take 5-6 wks for results and I linked it to my tree.  During the ancestry search stuff I've located a cousin in Arkansas and one in Washington State that I've connected with that have done research stuff too which gave me some very interesting history.  All of us are doing the test along with some of their family.  My mother is from the UK, ( I was born there, ) and Dads family from Jackson, Commerce Ga. I'm pretty curious where the roots are going to go.

There was a guy here in the UK, he was a Moparman too.
He had some real cool cars one being a SuperBird.
I heard he had a famous Dad that he never knew about?
Yep his dad was in one of the most famous UK Rock-bands.
Sadly his father died young and his Mother came back to England to find him.

Knowing my luck, my REAL-DAD died leaving me with a pile of DEBTS lol...
