I bought my 72 bare body and frame no title from a junk yard. Is there a body number I can find to determine weather it is an SE or not?
Looking to get the weather stripping and reading there may be a big difference between Rallye and Rallye SE versions?

69CoronetRT

Is the VIN still on the dash? Is the door sticker still on the driver's door?
Seeking information on '69 St. Louis plant VINs, SPDs and VONs. Buld sheets and tag pictures appreciated. Over 3,000 on file thanks to people like you.

72Charger72

Ah completely forgot about the door as I had put them in the shed........no dash or fender tags as they were gone long ago....but door tag still there... cant believe I forgot to check there...also have partial badging on drivers side

72Charger72

referenced the VIN but nothing mentioning SE or not?

WH23 = Charger
WP29 = SE

Check the door VIN against the body to make sure the door VIN goes with the body and the door hasn't been replaced.

Thanks 69CoronetRT doors and body appear to be original paint.... that original booger green color...as this is stripped to the frame awaiting dipping. No other identifiable numbers on the body...other than a number on the radiator mounting rail...is there somewhere on the body they hide a perm tag number? Frame or somewhere?
But Im pretty sure its just a Charger.

Ok found the tag but its very worn I cant really read the first two digits but it looks like a 2? 194539..
put a little oil on it and a hand wire brush....G2 194539! Dam I would have never seen that if you hadn't said where to look! So the body matches the doors! and its not an SE.
Thanks polywideblock!

you should also double check your rad support ,the number is usually on the engine side at top and will be a similar  number as on cowl  .

Definitelly a hardtop. Rallye or not? Does it have louvers indents on doors?

It doesn't exist a model/package such as Rallye SE

Even in 71 the R/T was a submodel stated on VIN, the Rallyes since 72 ( substitute for the R/T ) weren't anymore a submodel, but a package on any coupe or hardtop ( WL21 or WH23 respectivelly )

No but I acquired a set of louvered doors and 2 sets of hideaway headlights about 15 yrs ago. Did they ever come with power windows? I have doors from a 73 Brougham and was wondering if they could be put into the 72 Rallye doors?

heres a link my original post and the nightmare I have been dealing with to get a Charger back on the road.

We determined it is a WH23

Both, powered windows and Hideaways were optional

do you mean interior panels? Lower plastics yes, uppers not. Doors are diff height on rear ( 71/72s are around 1.5" higher on rear ), so makes upper panels not interchangeable

yeap of course... Rallye could be any one of those WL21 or WH23. Rallye was an added package normally stated on fender tad as A57 ( except Lynch Road assembly plant )

71 R/Ts were WS23 on VIN. That code wasn't anymore existant on 72 and lates.

I never took care CAREFULLY of that thread before ( even I posted there about the steering column ). Judging by the first pics you posted ( Long time ago ) seems to be a mix of parts

73 hood
73/74 fenders
Rallye doors ( correct for 72 )
72 hideaways ( maybe born with the car, who knows )
R/T tail lights ( gray finish )
71 SE upper panels
73 front bumper guards

and what I mentioned... 74 steering column ( with 71/73 steering wheel )

Sorry meant the power windows are from a 73 would they cross over to the 72 doors? probably not but I was hoping they might be worth something one day.

dang yeah they are the upper SE panels ....I have so many parts from 71-73 and all mixed up over the yrs...I have been pricing things and think I should start selling so I can get the 72 some progress. I have the 71 in the driveway and the upper rear quarters are mint....was thinking I should post to sell before the elements take a toll.

Nacho-RT74

Yes it got SE panels, I saw them on the pics, but 71, not 73. 73/74 upper panels ( Brougham or standard ) won't fit on to 71/72 doors.

73/74s Brougham panels are usally the ones found on 73/74 SEs but not exclusive on them. Brougham package was a trim what you could find son hardtops too ( and not just the 73 SE hardtops assemblied, but regular hardtops too )... Same as you can find 73/74 SEs with regular upper panels.

Not common though ( any of those )

That magnum hood came off an original 340 71 r/t are you saying its really from a 73? I know fenders were wrong...and steering column was off my 73 Brougham...

Nacho-RT74

Yes.

First, there was not 71 R/T with 340. All were 440 or hemi.

Second there was not plain bulged hoods on 71, every one got a cutout for an ornamental insert

Third, the grilles on rear of hood tells me is a 73. Nothing wrong with that! So mostly sure all the front clip came from same car ( by the fenders )

;)

Blows me away.... :RantExplode: I bought it 20 yrs ago out of a junkyard in SE Mo. No title and I went by what the guy told me back then....It was a 340 car because I had to change the K frame to get my 440 in the car...

Nacho-RT74

Why change the Kmember? Up to 72 al V8s ( but Hemi ) got the same one. The diff kmember between sb and bb began in 73
