Hi Guys
I purchased a new in box 440 block p/n P5007815AB a few years ago, its supplied by Mopar perf, it is dated 06.

I just pulled it out of the box the other day and it has the casting number 2468330-M
which suggests its a hemi block!!
It has 4 bolt mains and the bore measures 4.32.

Does anybody know what i actually have??

Thanks in advance

I will post some pictures shortly.

Thanks ron,  Hemi sounds better than a 440.
I was put off by the 4.32 bore, i would have thought the bore would be
4.25 and under.

Does anyone know other details about this block, specs, who cast it, any negatives.
There is a number stamped near the oil pump pad 60162  ??

That part # is for a wedge block, give us a photo of the inner head bolt area.

that's not drilled/ machined for hemi heads  :scratchchin:

P5007815 is  440 wedge block non siamesed with full water jacket with cross bolted mains  :drool5: :drool5: :drool5:,  the old MP casting , when they still sort of looked like OEM mopar blocks , before world castings etc  , I wanted one of these blocks at one point with a particular engine combo I wanted to build , but life got  in the way , by the time I was in a position to buy & build , the siamesed  world block was being sold  ,   when I check think there was only three or four of these blocks in the dealer net work , & the price was over 3 grand for a bare block ::) :o
having never seen one of these blocks in real life till now or this picture !! if it is one  , this is just a guess ,  perhaps  mopar used the same block & casting  as the 426 hemi fully water jacketed block , with wedge mounting  ears (( P5007669)) , for the  fully water jacketed 440 with cross bolted mains ,& just drilled bolt holes in wedge location & bore !!   to save money or something  , because  the 500ci wedge was a siamesed block , did it justify having soo many casting moulds    :shruggy:
this is just a guess , i'm prolly talking rubbish   :slap:

Thanks for that explanation tan top.

Your story makes sense to me but like you said why would
mopar make another casting for this particular block!! strange.

I guess i did not score a Hemi block :(

Anyone else who can shed some more light on this block?

has your block got extra casting see green arrow C & B , its a Hemi only deal for oil drain back ,  all the RB  cross bolted MP  blocks are cast with these I believe  ,  the wedge blocks are either not drilled , or have a pipe plug fitted  :scratchchin:
see green arrow A  same casting as as Hemi , could easily be machined by a competent machine shop , for hemi heads , & if the extra casting metal  C & B   opened up  for oil drain back , would  of thought  , just putting 2 & 2 together from my research , i'm no / far from an  expert   :shruggy:

Thanks for all your info tan top, much appreciated.
I will go to a machine shop to see what they could do out of curiousity.
Thanks again

Just seen this post - I have one of theses blocks
Just wanted to know if you had it machined for hemi heads
how the machining went with the machine shop - difficult/easy?
Also mains 2 - 3 - 4 have etc material in the block for
cross bolts but they have not been machined.
Where could I get the 2 - 3 - 4 cross bolt main caps from?
