Sheriff Jim Trafficant (Mahoning County / Youngstown Ohio) was doing this on TV in the '80's.  He was calling out mobsters.   He went on to the US congress and then prison for racketeering.

The "perceived public opinion" towards police that has transpired in the last few years is simply disgusting, and has been blatantly sensationalized by this administration and (his) mindless minions. It's truly beyond pathetic.

Good for Captain Clay for not only calling out the thugs in question, but for also reminding everyone that it's NOT simply about race...it's about assholes receiving their due rewards...and the fact that the immediate public is tired of their thuggery in general. Karma's a bitch, time to reap it!

It's not pathetic & disgusting that incidents of police/municipal abuse are getting long-overdue press attention & outrage.  Lesser amounts of press attention in the past has not been enough to get attention on the problems.  This stuff has been going on for decades.  

The Rodney King beating video was severely sensationalized too.  Unfortunately there was a lot of collateral damage.  But before that beating hit the news, poor/minority kids in LA were being called liars for even claiming that kind of stuff was happening.  After the RK mess some investigations & reforms did happen.  Sometimes sensationalizing & bad public perception is necessary to get changes made.

I agree with you that there are some bad apples in the police profession, and that they shouldn't be allowed to simply beat on people at will. They definitely need to be reprimanded and/or fired, depending on the situation.
However...there are far more good cops than there are bad, but the media doesn't focus on them nearly as much. It doesn't fit their narrative. These past few years, the cops in many areas are now looked at basically as the enemy to the public & not the defenders. That's just wrong!
The media & this administration are fueling that fire and THAT is wrong too, along with disgusting. IMO

But that is exactly what many people's years of life experience with police has been.   It's not just one or two bad incidents, and not just happening to one or two people they have known.
