Would love to see some more pictures and documented history. Trunk lid doesn't fit right, trunk is undercoated or painted black. Been repainted, no decals.. all on what is supposed to be less than a 10,000 mile car?

Really?  A starting bid of 275K?   Hmmm.  Good luck with that.  :slap:

A383Wing

well, it's not "complete", and if it's been repainted, it's not an original survivor as the seller states

rob-dirt

The seller could have AT LEAST Pumped up the tires before taking the pictures Im in at 175k  :popcrn: wonder what the reserve is

rob-dirt

Talked to the seller today very nice guy has had the car since 1972  also has a 440-6 pack white auto he told me he is getting up in age and its time to let a few go offers over 300k will take the car ..... And that leaves me out  ;)

hemi68charger

Would be a cool car for sure..... Looks like the leading edge of the hood is either too thick or doesn't have the appropriate lip-over on the leading edge or something...  :scope:

What's the odds he will get an offer over 300K?
I'd rather have the David Spade Hemi Daytona. Didn't that sell for 200K?

I think it is a very nice looking car. Everybody can find something they want to bring up about it.

For me the boxes to check are; is it a real car, is it a numbers car, what is the paperwork, how much work does it need? If the current owner has had it since 1972 that is a long term history.

I think the hood just is not down because the hood pins are not in, easy enough to ask. It could have some rust in the black trunk floor.

Everyone that has a perfect car can say theirs is better than this. What is a somewhat project worth? Compared to what folks with a perfect car want, this could be OK or not. Someone needs to actually look at it.

I'm surprised he couldn't be bothered at least putting air in that flat tire.

Perhaps actually pull it outside for a photo shoot?  After all he is asking $275 000.

It would be worth a drive to Ohio to see this. The spade Daytona brought more because it was a Daytona, but if that price is a measuring stick, this would be potentially worth 300k I think.

Agree.   Anyone priced Hemi 4-spd Birds lately?  At the moment, at something near 300, there is some room to restore the car.

Yes, but that one at Mecum was white, column automatic and a bench seat.   Those are three strikes against it before a bid has been placed.    Having the 4-gear option takes the other car to the head of the line.   High impact and buckets help too.

I personally like the white color on a Bird.   But I've heard from more than one person that it is perceived as a negative.    :shruggy:

Wow.  275K is not an unreasonable starting point?  I guess it's me who deserves a  :slap: then.

Hagerty puts the following values on a Hemi Superbird.

#1   371K
#2   315K
#3   233K
#4   192K

They put a 10% bump on top of this for a 4spd.

I really have no idea if their values are accurate or not. They are after all trying to get people to insure their cars for as much as possible. However, they also need to have some type of credibility as a source. FWIW

F8-4life

Horrible auction description, plus bad pictures and representation. Yea, I really needed to see a shot of the car under a car cover??

I believe Hagerty gets their estimates by averaging what ones have sold at public auction.

Aero426

Heard the other day that when the current seller bought the car, he had the Hemi gone through by four time USAC stock car champion Butch Hartman.     Butch was from the same town as the seller.

Complete BS.  The guy sold the car before the auction.  Didn't know how to end the auction, so cancelled everyones bids.  But the sniping programs kicked in and it went to 333k.  But the owner will not sell it to the guy that won the auction.  Take a look at the feedback.

"SELLER BACKED OUT OF THE DEAL. DO NOT TRUST THIS SELLER Plymouth: superbird super bird (#281942180545)"

Aero426

The car was reportedly sold offline for MORE than the end of auction amount.

While it is unfortunate that the seller may not have understood the need to end the auction early, the final bid is still non-binding.   It's not a deal until the money changes hands.   Translation: that's racin'.

Redbird

Not being an e-bay expert seller, is it hard to cancel an auction towards the end of the auction run?

Also did the seller put the note in the questions line saying it was sold before the auction ended?

Not being a party one way or another here, just trying to understand the process better.

I do think it is a nice car. I guess the tires held air for at least 5 minutes, as if that would hold the price back.

No, it isn't hard to end it early.    Being that he has only three feedbacks left since 2010 and two of those are as a buyer, it's pretty safe to say the seller is inexperienced.    I also understand there was a death in the immediate family.   So that certainly may have played a role.    I am sure it was a disappointment for the high bidder.    Other than leaving the negative feedback, I don't think there is much else he could do.

70Sbird

Does anyone have a feeling (or a true number) for what the car sold for?
Just curious, As said before it certainly has all of the correct boxes checked: Hemi, 4 speed, buckets, good color, long term owner and a history. Yes it needs work and is not restored but if it truly went for something in the $350K range or more that is setting the bar pretty high for a Plymouth!

No, we do not know.    Just that it was for something more than the final bid.     Either way, I figure that anything that starts with a 3 is pretty dang strong.

Beep Beep Dave

Man you guys are a tough crowd, would you rather have the car presented by one of those Musclecar Dealership or flippers who in efforts to maximise profits they probably would have destroyed even more originality on the car. I know if I was in the market or more accurately had the $$$ I would have been down there to see the car in person as soon as possible and if it checked out would have been trying hard to buy it.

That car rings pretty much al the bells for me and it would be a huge bonus to be buying it from the guy who had owned it since 1972. Sometimes you can't put a price on first hand history. If I was buying the car I'd be asking the owner if it would be ok to video tape him as he told me about the car.

Awesome car :2thumbs:

Don't everyone line up to shoot me but if it went for less than 400k it was a deal.  One owner Hemi 4 speed car, add $150k for a lights out restoration, sell again for $600+k.
