I believe you're correct! I couldn't remember the guy's name that had all the information on it.

Yep- that would be me. The car is still a sore subject three years later but I'll shed some light on it. I actually wrote an article for Mopar Connection magazine about this very car for any one that's interested.

http://moparconnectionmagazine.com/cody-cole-the-charger-that-got-away/

For those that don't feel like reading the whole article, I'll jot down the shorter version. I grew up down the street from the car. We found it in 1999. It was sitting at the owner's brother's house. I sat in the driver's seat shortly after when my dad was talking to the brother. I wanted the car for years but being young, I never had any money. Finally in 2012, I was in the position to buy it so I went and talked to the brother. He said his brother didn't really want to sell. I left him a Christmas card that year and finally in early 2013, he called me saying he was moving and wanted to sell the car. He had gotten confirmation to sell it from his brother and my Christmas card I left in his mailbox meant a lot to him and he wanted me to buy the car. I made an offer which he accepted. He was supposed to get the paperwork together and I could come get it in a few weeks and give him the cash. Before that could happen, the car got stolen. It vanished off the radar for a few months. In April 2013, thanks to a Charger friend, I actually managed to help the police recover the car. He phoned me saying he thought he had found it. I went over to the location where the car was, confirmed it was the car and called the brother and the police.

The car was recovered and the brother told me he was so thankful as he was sure the car would of never been found if my friend and I didn't find it. He told me he had gotten the paperwork together and I could come get it in a few days when he was available. He didn't answer his phone for weeks. Finally one day a few months later, he replied to a text saying his brother wanted to keep the car now. Frustrated, I gave up on the car and moved on. Out of curiosity a few months back, I ran the vin number and found out the title had changed names only a week or so after I last heard from the brother. So I was convinced he had more offered more money for it and sold it.

Sure enough- that's exactly how it seems after it popped up on Craigslist for WAYYYYY more than it's worth. The ad isn't correct either. They say it's been in storage for nearly 30 years but that's a lie. It was last insured and on the road in 1995. Then it was parked in the muddy yard where it sat until it was stolen in 2013. The car looks the exact same as it did the last time I saw it with the exception of they took the back seat out and the passenger quarter panel is completely caved in now from the appearance in the Craigslist pictures.

It still pisses me off to this day.  :rotz: :rotz: :rotz: :rotz: :rotz: :rotz: :brickwall:
