so y13 is dealer demo and y14 is sold car.  does that mean that the dealer bought it and people test drove it or did it sit in the showroom?

yes.
Y14 meant someone laid down money to get the car buillt.
In this case the dealership as it became Y13, too

Y14 indicates that a deposit (or more) was put down at time of order.

Dealerships did order their own cars at times.
