i have a question about the bottom of the car. is that the way it was done at the factory, looks like grey primer underneath.

yes , they were all pretty much the same  ,

although  if J55 option was checked  ,  everything would be / should be ,  covered with , the heavy rock chip / undercoating under there ,  like whats under the front & rear wheels wells & back side of the front fenders & inside the rear quarters !  ( how much actually was sprayed on & spray pattern  varies , suppose what ever under coating guy feels like doing at the time  , from what ive seen even  the basic undercoating under the wheel wells & rear frame rails pattern varies from  assembly plant & years  ,  i'm no expert , but  st Louis chargers   had / has a basic  different pattern to Hamtramck chargers  , well the ones ive seen ,  :scratchchin: :shruggy: :popcrn:

don't see any undercoat on the rear frame rails of this 70 ,  :scratchchin:    in 68/69 that's was standard / basic undercoating to cover them ! on the out side face & bottom  , well on Hamtramck cars   :scratchchin:

like I  await to be corrected , on any of this   :popcrn:

wow  :o  what  beautiful charger     :drool5:

  and 71 GA4  383 magnum  SE

GOTWING

beautiful car  :drool5: although I like luggage racks on E body convertibles I don't like anything on the back of a 68-70 Charger including a go-wing. :eek2:

Charger_Fan

I agree, if I was ordering a '70 Charger, I wouldn't have checked the luggage rack box...maybe the wing, but not the rack. Now the sunroof box, hell yes! :nixon: I would love a sunroof in my Charger.

This one's a real beauty, it will be interesting to see if they are able to get their asking price.

The Aquamax...yes, this bike spent 2 nights underwater one weekend. (Not my doing), but it gained the name, and has since become pseudo-famous. :)

Dodge Don

These were not customer orders but sales bank orders. They were all built exactly the same, all with exact same options, all with a build date of August 2, 1969 right at the beginning of the 70 model year production, sequential VINs, sequential Vehicle Order Numbers. They were to promote the Chicago Auto show. Based on the ones registered so far we know there were at least 16 of them...maybe more...but right now we can say 16 for sure.

The other owners of these cars should be watching this auction very closely.  :popcrn:

And this ad is correct in that it is the highest VIN of that string known at this time.

Love the underside.. with just the overspray from doing the rockers blow in, not painted and cleared like was never done at the factory.

The rear end?? Is this correct, Semi gloss axle housing and the pumpkin is bare? I knew the pinion snubber plate never got painted, but the pumpkin didn't either??

Same paint. These cars were identical in every way.

Member here ( Johnny SixPack ) has one of these cars.

Don - "lowest VIN" check your post & 100926 to 100944 wouldn't that be 19 cars?  How many are accounted for?

Don, how many of the EB5/C2B5 318 Charger "SHOW CARS" do you have accounted for? & there had to be a Charger 500 "SHOW CAR" any ideas?

Similar to the way I do my rear ends. LEON.

Awesome Charger , but phewwwwwwwwwwwww  $$$$$$$  !!!!
When I found my 3x9 R/T SE , there was a luggage rack on it , and I was praying it was not on the fender tag and was added . Do not like them at all , so off it went !!!

472 R/T SE

Very impressive restoration.  I've already seen it on the bay & saved all it's pix.  It's been forever since I've seen a Bendix & Master all done correctly for ONCE.

tt, there's no mention of J55 on the tag so the undercarriage is correct.  Hard to see but there's no pad on the underside of the hood either.
I don't care for the luggage rack with the Bee stripe.  The rack needs to be on a longitudinal stripe car to look right.

Whoever restored this car did a fabulous job!

6bblgt

"IF" the "promo" Charger R/T SEs are all the same this car should be undercoated & have a hood pad (if a correct/authentic restoration was desired).  It also has the incorrect tires for an August build.

If you see a '70 Charger with "J55" on the tag - there may be issues .....  :scratchchin:
