At this point all we can definitively go off of are factory/dealership documents. Earliest dealership paperwork I gave is from October of 68. It's the invoice for picking up a Hemi 500. Car was ordered on August 4, 68.

Regardless of the exact amount of press cars built early, did they all end up getting sold from dealerships?
I'd think they were sold as used cars, at that point.   (well used! :coolgleamA: )

Or "dealer demos"?   Certainly not new!

I've never owned anything but a MoPar. Can you say that?

Of the early cars I know of, all were sold as used cars as far as I can tell. As far as the number of early ones, that's up in the air. I know of 5 I have seen. There is one vin gap in there, thus making me think 6 were made. VON also start at 925000, and go up from there with one of the cars I know of being 925005. Which would be sixth number. Doesn't mean they didn't make 7 or even 10.

Chatting with Galen about this, the first group of cars were 610-615, a gap in the sequence numbers, then another group which shows the 1st L-code 500 showing up. He highly thinks Richard's car and mine were at the Lindermann shoot.. Having concrete evidence will be virtually impossible, for any of the cars....  The best situations would be the California cars since, more than likely, those cars that were sent out there for photoshoots remained in the general area after PR duties were completed....
