were the vinyl tops put on at creative industries,or at the factory. i have a piece of tan vinyl top material between the gear and the metal sunroof. my car came with a pearl white top.

IIRC ASC (American Sunroof Corp.) installed the sunroofs in the 1969 Chargers

since the fender tag and b'cast sheet are NOT coded for vinyl tops, I believe the top would've been part of the conversion

short of an original invoice, Advance Dealer Shipping Notice, or window sticker - the only way to determine what color the original top was, is to find a remnant in the sunroof jamb or around the mechanism like your pic shows.

what's your evidence for the white top?

here's fresh T7 with V1T  :scope:

I agree with 6bblgt - everything that I have read says the early power sunroof cars were out-sourced to ASC. When ASC finished installing the sunroof hardware, they cleaned up any rough edges around the sunroof opening and installed the vinyl top and the headliner material.

my top, which according to Galen, (for what it's worth) is original.  It is NOT Chrysler boar grain vinyl, but a GM gain, and not a Chrysler color either.  It also has the seams wider than the standard vinyl top so that they don't run through the sunroof area. MPJ

is the front & rear glass in ?  I ask ! ,   because the factory put the vinyl on ! then screwed the stainless trim revel moulding clips on top of it ! , thinking ASC may well on done it the same way . if soo , there is a very good chance , the original color top material is under there ! , I found the original tan vinyl material  there on mine ,  was surprised to  be honest , this  was before the internet etc   & mine had a black top when I bought it  , but the fender tag called &  broad cast sheet  for tan V1T , thinking who would order a yellow charger with a black interior & a tan top  :eek2:  must of been a factory error  ::)

well i pulled the windshield trim off today, and there was white pearl vinyl top material. the glass must have been installed before it left the factory, the material was cut and glued down bent over the edges but not behind the clips or screwed through.

oh I see , my black top had been put on similar to that  ,   definitely  not the factory way , as well as screwing  the revel trim clips over the vinyl , there are a number of staples along the  top edge , to hold the vinyl edge down  ( must of been some staple gun to go through the metal too ) maybe  the white top was put on sometime after ,  & tan was the original color ? that's kind of the only explanation ?  the Late Red Kilbys charger had a tan vinyl top  , then was changed to white

as far as I know pearl white was not available on a 69 , think ASC would of used the color white top ,  that could of been a option on that year  :scratchchin:
the pearl white could of been put on , sometime  later in the  late 70s / 80s , as a replacement  :scratchchin:
