Drip Rails for 69 - is there any hope out there?

As most of you know who are in the same "pickle" that I am in. AMD still isn't producing any drip rails, and according to the phone conversation I had with them today, may or may not anytime soon. This is holding me up, and it stinks. Are there any from any other car that are close enough that a good bodyman could make them identical to the originals, or does anyone have any leads on some that are salvageable, or does my bodyman just need to start making some from scratch. Thanks!

my body guy is making mine from scratch, pretty cool too.

Do you mean they haven't made any lately because I have a set of drip rails from AMD I bought last spring from a guy that didn't use them locally. If we are talking about the same thing they are same for All 68-70 b body 2 door less the post cars. I say this without absolute proof but I do know the ones I removed from my 68 satellite parts car were identical to my charger.

Supposedly they are retooling the dies...for over a year now.

Oh I see, so the ones I have may not fit correctly. One is twisted a bit from shipping so I'll have to do some tweaking anyway.

Yes, its been a year or more. Talked to AMD yesterday and I was told that the tooling had actually broken. Also was told "we are not sure when, or even if we will be producing those again"..
My bodyman is in the same boat of probably going to just fabricate some.

Oh just great!
So if I have a vinyl top car those drip rails need to be pretty close other wise the stainless trim wont fit properly!

I didn't do it on my car, but shaved drip rails look good on these cars.    :Twocents:

I thought about that but it being a '69 R/T se, I don't want to customize it.

Was going to say the set installed on my 70 fit well if they retooled hopefully it was the 1/4 panel and door skin tooling ask me how i know lol.

I don't see the need to wait for a repro....when I bought a top half of another charger for donor parts there was more than enough drip rail to patch my car. When I bought a donor cowl, the first few inches of the rail on the a pillar were there and it wasn't from a charger. Just some very slight bending and it matched perfectly. You should be able to adapt any 68-70 b body drip rails to fit your charger. Just find the donor stuff before cutting yours up so you can use your original as a guide.
