I was perusing my local Craigslist, and saw a '68 for sale that was a few hours away.

"Factory four-speed AC car 383 motor car is disassembled all parts are there bodywork is 90% done no rust floor panels replaced do not take emails call or text first buyer with cash gets the car"

I talked to the seller, took a road trip the next day with cash and closed the deal. It will be a bit of a project, but when it is done...wow. I may have to sell the other '68 to keep wifey happy, but my teenage daughter said she wants it. We will see.  ;)

Unfortunately no. Both long gone. But I will be going back up to see the seller and visit a previous owner - I hope to chew the fat, talk mopars and history and see what happened to the drivetrain.

383 4bbl 4-spd A/C & 3.55s  :2thumbs:

When I saw the fender tag I broke out with a big smile. And a Wow.  ;)  Nice assortment of options.

The pig looks like it has never been removed - the right rear wheel was locked up (probably the parking brake) so it would not spin. But the left rear wheel spun the input shaft of the 742 (I don't know what that means-no deep thinking on my part yet). I didn't count the revolutions to get the gear ratio...I will when I see the car again. I will be posting lots of pics and comments when it gets some TLC.

I attached the fender tag break out. It also has a tic-toc-tach and wood grain steering wheel. LL-1 paint, 383 4-bb, 4-speed, A/C, 3.55 gears, power disks up front, 26" radiator.... I'm only slightly smiling here....

What did you pay for this rat

Isn't that kind of asking how much you make?   :o  ;)  I may say later if people really want to really know. I didn't steal it, but I think I did well for what I got.  :icon_smile_wink:

Yep. And I'm keeping the vinyl off it.

looks like the ratio tag is still bolted to the center section  :coolgleamA: turquoise needs that black vinyl top  :Twocents:

'68 Charger was non-HP 383 4bbl (383HP in a b-body was Road Runner & Super Bee ONLY)

NO steel belted tires in '68 - they would've been F70-14 Goodyear SPEEDWAY "white stripe"

This is an ongoing debate that never seems to have a clear valid point.

Debate: 1968 only: Charger: 383 4bbl: Is it an HP or non HP?

Here's what I've gathered from internet sources.

383 4bbl Auto A/C or non A/C = non HP 330 horse power
383 4bbl 4 Speed non A/C = HP 335 horse power
383 4bbl 4 Speed A/C = ???? (never could find this documentation)

6bblgt you are correct on the 383 HP in the RRs & SBs

Sorry Dan for the HiJack.

Again great score!!!!!

Nice!
Glad to see you are going with the turquoise. My car is also originally turquoise with a vinyl top and like you I'm going with the turquoise and leaving the vinyl off.   :2thumbs:
