My 68 charger has after market mirror on the drivers door it should have a remote mirror on it which I bought at spring fling. Can somebody tell me what type of screw holds the mirror to the door a sheet metal screw or a machined screw with a nut. I know the mirror has a stud on it but it all so takes a screw.

The regular and remote style mirrors have a sheet metal screw and a stud with a nut on the bottom.

Here is a pic of the pass side mirror, but it bolts the same, the screw is about 1in long and chrome.

'68 mirrors, whether manual or remote, have a visible sheet metal screw at the rear end and a stud with a nut at the forward side, inside the door.
Pardon me but my karma just ran over your dogma.
