Another vote to leave it raw.  That makes it far more memorable & interesting.

There are thousands of '68 Chargers are out there.  But everyone remembers Freiburger's General Mayhem.

should i let the raw metal panels get rusty patina looking or try and match the faded paint so it looks like original panels

alfaitalia

Just leave it to decay naturally IMO......mind you if you did that here it would be rusted to dust by next Thursday!...

Let the patches rust. If you try to match the old paint it will look too much like you cared about it. I like the look that it has with the patches raw. It looks more purpose built that way IMO

I agree leave them bare metal, after they surface rust you can always clear them

after getting the car on the ground the horrible mopar geometry i just couldnt ignore anymore, so i made new lowers this morning and swapped out spindles for a set of wilwood forged pinto ones. now the geometry is great and i can drop this sucker to the ground without binding up.

Very nice....that's real engineering porn!

way more betters...pinto spindles and flipped lower balljoint fixed all mopar geometry and now i have more travel and better handling geometry. plus now i can drop the car to 1/2" off the ground if i wanted. way more betters...

here in this pic it is at 2" from bottom of frame rail in front and 2.5" in rear. im gonna have to flare the front fenders to get my steering i need. the pinto stuff did widen the front tread width about 1.5"

RCCDrew

I'm impressed. On too many pro touring Mopars, the aftermarket suspensions widen the track width, requiring front wheels with FWD type offsets. Your setup keeps the factory width while lowering the car, allowing front wheels with a nice deep dish. Looks great!

i switched to pinto setup, so it did widen out 1.5" now. had to flare the fenders out to get full steering at 2" frame height and its still not enough, gonna have to make the flare a little bigger. my wilwood 6 piston setup arrived today

gf wants a wedding ring...i had enough for either that or wilwood 6 piston brake setup, guess who has a wilwood 6 piston brake setup....dis guy  :icon_smile_big:

Careful!!! She might get upset and key your car.

djcarguy

GREAT lighting or effect with the blueish roll cage. car is sure looking great and mean as a yellow car can bee.

Are you going to try to copy rh c stripe on lf side??  what bout porta power an bow the fenders out for clearance?

Think i have a used wedding Ring wood trade for rear spring relocate on my Dart-tona,haha.DJ  :2thumbs:

im a low budget circle track racer, so i cant pay others to do my stuff. had to learn how to do it myself. as for the flares, im friends with an old roadracer, thats how he did his flares back in the 60's was with a hammer and dolly.

Not that I have cbrests skills or tool!....but I learnt what I do for a similar reason....too broke as a kid to pay anyone else to work on my bikes or car!! I lived out in the sticks with no public transport (well we had one bus a week...on a Thursday!...I'm not joking!) so if I wanted to see mates, or more importantly girls or get to town or the pub, I had to maintain, fix, modify it myself!! Amazing how quick you can pick stuff up if you just tear into it! Then for a while I was a tech at a shop and then a VW dealer...so that helped ! These are cars not rocket ships so easy to figure stuff out..and the older the car the easier it is.....I think twice about touching anything electrical on my old Merc...all that canbus stuff is a bit beyond me....I leant my stuff well before that!

Congrats! Plus now she won't hate the car for sucking up the ring money!  :icon_smile_big:
