yes , looks like 079 to me also , i'm far from a expert , but I think that means  week 7 1969  ,  February  1969

    Well, my build date for the car is March 18  1969, is it possable this is original to the car?  Cant be.

     I put the firecore distributor in, its temporary. Not the bi-pass, but until I can do it right.

The date code on parts would be earlier than the build date of the car.  They didn't make these parts one at a time when a car needed it.  The parts were made in batches, often by outside companies, and would be ready to get bolted onto cars rolling down the line.  If 079 is indeed a date code then it would make sense to be made before the actual car.

I would say  , there is a good chance that voltage regulator  with a date code of week 7 69 , is  original to the car .
  having said this  , i'm far from a expert , I've not paid enough attention to the ,  original assembly line fitted voltage regulators ive seen,  compared to over the counter parts department regulators ,  to be 100% sure .   sometimes  assembly line parts can differ slightly  compared to , dealer replacement parts , (ie maybe the writing or color of  writing ) I mentioned different suppliers before )  .....
