what is the opposite of "slow and wussy"

Oh, I thought it would be something I'd watch.  :smilielol:

1969 Charger, 383, Q5/V1W, A35, H51, N88,  numbers match (under restoration)

cbrestoration,i think if someone wanted your charger or anything that matter, they would make sure to pay up.Two weeks is a long time for a deposit, should have been right away.I put down my deposit 5 minutes after the auction ended when i stopped jumping up and down because i wanted it badly.

Think of the good deed as well as earning money with Tina  :2thumbs:
You have no idea how hard it is to find and buy a '68 charger from over here. Not trying to persuade you to do anything just saying, that selling this car to Tina would help her a lot.You don't have to deal with other people's nonsense again with this car as they are ready to pay up.The way i see it,it's a win win for both of you.

Tina

Cavemanno1: thnx  ;) I agree with you, but on the other side, cbrestoration is fair and when he told to somebody that he has 2 weeks for deposit..he is keeping the word. It sounds fair to me, so we will only hope that the other guy will not pay it..

VegasCharger

Tina, cbrestorations (Chris) is a straight up guy :2thumbs: :2thumbs: :2thumbs:

He knows his stuff when it comes to old muscle and especially 2nd gen Chargers.

I have dealt with him before as I bought a 1970 Charger shell from about three years ago and it was a smooth transaction. Plus I made a Mopar friend and connection in the process. We both live in Las Vegas, NV.

So if you end up making a deal with him and it's before April 23rd you could make the Spring Fling show in Van Nuys, CA. About a 5 hour drive from Vegas. It's an all Mopar swap meet and car show for Saturday & Sunday of that weekend.

Mopars at the Strip will be before you arrive. This is the Las Vegas Mopar event. Race, show and swap. That's March 18-19-20. In my earlier reply those were some of the shows I was referring to. These shows are closest (time wise) upon your arrival. Some of the other big MoPar shows across the USA start later in the summer such as Carlisle, The Nationals, English Town, Monster MoPar, Mopars in the Park, etc. If you Google any of these events you should be able to gather some info.

Hope that helps

cbrestorations

thanks bryan, but actually you bought that 70 charger from tj, the guy who i was working for at the time, i was just the middle guy as he knew nothing about chargers. would you have ur 68 driveable by spring fling? maybe you, lennard and i could all drive our turd buckets down there lol

Tina

VegasCharger : that is awsome, maybe we will make our visit of States few days longer then  ;)
But everything depends on if we will be able to buy charger from cbrestoration, still waiting  ;)

Checked already all those other shows and damn that would be awesome to be a part of one.
The dream will come true   ;D

I know that for you guys it is probably normal race and show, but believe, here in Europe are not that big events with not so many special cars and engines and power! So for us it is something special  :drool5: And please don´t take me like some hillbilly who never saw some muscle car

So damn yes, I hope we will manage it somehow to visit for example Spring Fling and be there like  :popcrn: :popcrn: :popcrn:

cbrestorations

well he came thru on payment and promissed to pay off the car by the end of the week, im sorry tina. as of right now there is not alot on the market for a 1968 charger. i would say that silver car is the best deal at the moment. you could always have it transported to me and i could install a 440 and go thru the car so its reliable for you to drive around while here in the states. he is at 19k or best offer, if you could get it for 17k then you could fund the big block conversion

cbrestorations

i put some feelers out to try and find one for you aswell

Thanks for the encouragement CBR but that probably won't happen. Plus I'm going to haul the parts that don't sell at MATS to SF. And who knows maybe pick some parts along the way, it's an on going circle ;D

Yes you would really like Spring Fling if there's no shows like that across the pond.

Tough break on the CBR 68 Charger deal but keep your head up with a positive attitude and one will come your way.

cavemanno1

That sucks big time!I would be well pissed off for sure. Now someone who can't keep his end of the deal gets the car instead of these guys whom will have much harder time to find a car.
Well Tina, maybe it wasn't meant for you guys! It's upsetting for sure but you can't give up,not that you mentioned it,after the first blow!Just keep at it and time will tell how bad you want it!

Make sure you know all your registration rules about what allowed and what not before buying a car!
Like in Hungary they require number matching cars.Although my car's engine isn't number matching but it is the same engine size and family,so i guess they are gonna have to be OK with it!

Germany has some strict rules as well,so read upon that!

stripedelete

Tina, requirements verses money,  you are placing a tough order..   Even if you find a non-running, numbers matching, Arizona shell, it will be a long expensive restoration.   For most of us, the resoration process can really suck the fun out of the hobby, regardless of whether you do it yourself, or, you use a reputable restoration shop.

Consider waiting a while and coming over with $40k USD.  With good due diligence, you should be able to drive a pretty nice car home.

Try This:

Put your hand in front of your face and ask someone to hit it with a shovel.  Drop your hand right before the shovel hits it.   That's restoration.

Buy a $100 bottle of Scotch and splash it over a couple of ice cubes.  Then sit in a recliner while someone rubs your feet.  That's buying it restored.

Good luck! ;)

there are a few 68 chargers on the market right now on craigslist that appear to be decent deals, i have a 68 that would be perfect for you but i have a guy who was supposed to put a deposit on it a week ago and has not yet, he has one more day and then im done with him. metal wise its in real good shape, it only needs quarter skins. in ur budget i could of built a fresh performance 440, rebuilt trans, all new wiring harness, all new disc brake conversion, sure grip rear, new quarter skins, all new rebuilt suspension.

i hope i dont look like a jerk...lol, i clearly stated he had 1 more day to come up with the money as i kept my word to him. he paid 2 minutes before closing at his bank

cavemanno1

Not a jerk but could have been a bit more flexible!
So the guy promised to pay the deposit but had hard time doing it but you than give hope to these guys then take it away? You think that guy will keep his end of the bargin and paying you all the money when he had difficulty paying even the deposit?
If someone would come here to Hungary and wanted to buy a specific item that only can be found here and i had it for sale and a buyer who kept stringing me along,i would just tell the buyer that you had your chance you blow it.Then I would sell it to those who are in greater need and would have much harder time to buy it otherwise.
Your buyer could buy it any day any week when one is for sale if he wanted to.What do you think the chances are for Tina to find one and buy one?Time difference, language barrier, people's feelings about these cars leaving the states,of course it's completely alright letting it rot in a field but leaving the States,no!

the guy who wanted this 68 charger was a young guy who was saving his money to afford a charger, you want me to kill his dream...i allowed this guy to make a deposit and then make payments to finish paying the car off...not many people woud do that for someone.  i said the option was there to buy if he didnt come thru,  so i mearly filled tina in on what the car was and what i could do for her within her budget if he bailed. clearly stated in the first message...you are kinda blowing this up into something it doesnt need to be or intended. what you dont see is i have messaged her behind the scenes on another 68 i have found that i believe could of even been better than the original one i was talking about. she didnt really seem too interested in that one so i told her again if i come across one that suits you better i would let you know. its not like i said hey, sorry have to find one else where, i like helping people.

Lennard

I don't really see why you feel the need to reprimand cbrestorations,  caveman.
He was loud and clear when he explained the situation with the car in his first reply.

cavemanno1

I didn't reprimand him or was not intended at least even if it came across like that.I didn't know the circumstances so I don't judge just stated my mind.
It's good that you help that young kid out and hope Tina find a car once!

Tina

In the beginning, sorry for this long post.

We are not interested and didn´t want to lead some wars and fights here. We need help and good advice and we are more then glad that you guys accepted
us here on forum, but let us make some things to be clearer, just to not think about us that we are some strangers from Europe.

Cars are our life. Everytime when my boyfriend brings home some another looking bad car or let´s call it wreck (cause sometimes it loks like that),
he knows that his bed for next 2 nights is couch (exaggerating)  , but then we start work on it together for pleasure, because we like this kind of relax and life.

My boyfriend came along many oldtimers, european but he knows everything what it takes..nerves,stress etc.. So we don´t need some education or
guidance about what some restoration takes and what is it about.

The time has come, that after european cars we have to move forward. Our mutual dream was always 1968 Charger and nothing else jst 1968 Charger.
We were just talking about it, that one day we will buy this car. And that one day, came now  :yesnod: So we started to manage things around, start to sell some crazy project cars and buy our dream which will grow older with us. My boyfriend says: "Not spending mile with bmw to get my future child to kindergarten. It will be misery for both of us"  :icon_smile_big:

Our budget for the start is plus/minus 20k, not 35k neithter 40k. We are not interested in buying totally restored car.
That is not fun for us, but we also have some idea what to expect. We know that we will lose 3x more money as to buy some restored nice car,
but you know , that´s it.

Please try to understand us, for us is buying Charger 68 big problem, we know that somebody also has dreams for years and waits for charger too, but
in Europe is Charger like some sci-fi  :icon_smile_big:  It´s not possible to buy it here, or you can buy it from strange people who have only wrecks without parts just for busines.
Not talking about many taxes,VAT etc, and then problem with registration to be able to take it on road. We will have to register it in other country because of it.
So yes, we think our dream is more bigger and not that easy to reach it.
We are happy that we met here the same crazy member as we are - cavemanno1, cause he is few hours from our city and we hope we will enjoy all this joy from Charger with him.

And few words to that sold Charger from our point of view.
We have no need and don´t want to make you some bad name here or copy paste our conversation, but you made us offer which we were looking for.
You gave us an offer and said he has last day to send 5k deposit, then the car can be ours. We waited for that last day till 5pm like you said the banks will be closed. We waited for information.
Then the day after deadline of deposit you sent us information that he sent only 4k of deposit 5k.
Also that you are tired of him and you just going to refund his money or put it towards the other charger he wanted to buy.
You were talking about higher deposit from us, so beacause of your good name here and know that parts aren´t cheap we decided to send you 8-10k
also with statement of payment from bank to be sure that we paid it and not only take some more time.
You know what we mean, we had good-will to send that big amount to person only because your good name here.
And then in one hour you sent another information that the guy when you want tu refund him money, sent the last 1000 and car is sold, believe me that we were more then upset, because you gave us the hope, but yes i agree that not promise. If you would write only that the deposit was paid, we will be only sad and that´s it.

But we appreciate that you are man that keep the word, we don´t know here much people with this priceless character.
We just think that you could be more flexible (like cavemanno1 wrote), especially when he sent deposit after deadline and in two parts.
So that´s it to this topic from our point of view, but we don´t want to discuss it again and again, so please let´s make thick line to this.

Don´t anybody think something bad about us or cbrestoration, he apologice for this situation and he is still trying to help us find some other charger 68,
we do realy appreciate it, but the other offer is  for longer comunication, so we have to think about it more. Thank you for your patience.  :nixon:

VegasCharger

Hopefully a good 68 Charger deal will find it's way to you Tina

That's 1968 Charger and nothing else!! Not 1969 Charger or 1970 Charger.

Good luck :2thumbs: :2thumbs: :2thumbs:

Tina

No offence to anyone with that colour but........erm....that really is not pleasant.
If at first you don't succeed, skydiving is not for you !!

stripedelete

No problem.  Just call the $20k used , running/driving, 68 Charger factory and have them knock one out in  better color.    :shruggy:

cbrestorations

im sure you will find one, just have to wait for the right one to pop up. in that $20,000 price range for a driver, cant be too picky though
