Door Lock knob

I noticed that the metal post that sticks through the upper door pad for the lock button is not straight up and down but angled back like this

Could it be on backwards?

That is how all I have seen inside the doors of look. I believe they did it so the lock stem sat at an angle, like the glass does. It isn't an exact match for that angle, but not as obvious as having a straight up and down item placed beside angled glass.

Mine actually pokes through top pad at an angle and I cannot put button on it..it's a pretty severe angle. Maybe bent?
