Hey guys-     Just wondering how you read the date code on glass and how important this is to most people.  Do you guys even look for glass that is correctly date coded for your cars?  I've got all the original glass, but some of its got some scratching so I thought I might try to swap some of it out.  Just wondering what you all thought.  Tipopiola :icon_smile_big:

Chryco Psycho

most has the first 3 #s as the day & last for the year
ex. - 2559 , 255 day of 69

Okay, that makes sense.  So would all pieces be exactly the same or would they just be very close to each other?  Thanks again, Tipopiola :icon_smile_big:

That MMC Detroit site has a whole lot of good info, for sure.  I printed out their "What date code should be on my part" before hitting the swap meets last year to give me some ideas on where things should be.

Their info on Glass Date Codes is different, depending on where you look on their site.  On the main page that Chris linked to, they interpret 26 99 to mean the 269th day of 1969.  If you click on the picture of the glass markings, it takes you to another page where they address glass codes in a little more detail.  On that page, they decipher that same code (26 99) to mean the 9th month of 1969, where the "26" means "glass type".

I would think they have it right on the more detailed explanation page.  I had previously checked the original glass on my June-built car, and it shows

26 49  (Driver's side vent wing)
26 29  (Driver's side door glass)
26 69  (Driver's side rear glass)
26 39  (Passenger's side vent wing)
26 59  (Passenger's side rear glass)

That recurring 26 almost has to mean "glass type" as they explained.  Sorta weird that a car built in June has that many different months of glass in it, but that's the case.
