I think it's safe to say that you probably won't have any real friends after winning money on that scale...

skip68

I don't want to think about it anymore.    :'(
I don't wanna play anymore but I'm sure my wife will buy more today.    :brickwall:
The higher the numbers go the more people play.   This makes the odds so far stacked against you it's crazy.
I think once the money gets so high like this the average person has no need for it.  It's more than enough to do whatever you could ever possibly dream of.

The numbers are stacked sky-high against winning every single week of the year.  If that's affecting your decision to play lotto then don't ever play it.  Even on a good week the odds are up there with getting struck by lightning or eaten by a shark.

Me, I just don't bother with petty throwaway prizes like $50 mil.  If it's not at least 1/4 billion (after payout & taxes) then it's not worth my time.   :smilielol:

The odds.     You're more likely to get struck by lightning while being eaten by a shark.
They actually said this morning on the news that you're more likely to be struck by lightning.
You're more likely to drown.
Then, under that they said you're more likely to be struck by lightning while you're drowning than win this lottery.   :smilielol:
I was laughing my ass off.

True, but the fact remains that someone WILL win it, regardless of the odds against them doing so.  Bottom line is you have ZERO chance if you don't play at all...

If I found an unsigned ticket on the ground and it was a winner would it be considered "playing" if I chose to cash it in without having purchased it? :scratchchin:

Of course I would advertise to try to find the poor sap that lost it.

Yes, it would.  But the chances that the winning ticket gets lost by the purchaser and found by you that way is likely above 1 in a trillion...

For retrospective: If you take a coin out and flip it onto the same side (no cheating!) 28 times in a row, the odds are 2^28 = 268,435,456 to one.  (The stated odds by the lottery is 292 million to one to win the big prize.)  Every ten same side flips in a row is equivalent to roughly 1000x the starting odds.  So, you would have to flip the coin on the same side 40+ times in a row to get in the ballpark the odds that you could win it by finding it that way.....

Their are lot's of unclaimed lottery winners out their. :shruggy:

Some years back I bought into powerball but burned the ticket by mistake in the fireplace with the paper bag it was in. :brickwall: This was no big deal until it was announced that the winner of that one was sold in Oregon.
I was sweating this one hoping a winner would come forward. (They did about two weeks later)  Had no one come forward I would always believe my burned ticket was the winner. :slap:

If nobody wins I bet it goes up to $2.3 billion.   This kinda money makes millionaires look poor.

I won $60. on a state only lottery last night. I won $30 on Sunday with the numbers, then another $30 last night on the same ticket with the same numbers.

But one thing I would do is find another '69 Charger 383 4spd car to replace the one my now ex made me sell. Then also look to open a Swiss bank account so all the money is insured. Remember, bank here only insure the first $200k. No one talks about that. Then I would take care of my mom, my kids, and then myself to rid myself of my health issues. After that, built a house and buy more cars and old semi trucks.

I haven't chimed in yet so here goes. Firstly I would take the payments, you'll get more and have time to learn to deal with the large sums of money. I would definitely attend Mecum at Kissimmee this weekend. I want to do something big that would make a big impact on my local economy, what that is I haven't figured out yet. As of this writing we stand at 1.5 Billion.

What would I do with 800 million? If this means what would I do if I WON it or it was leftover from a previous win...

If I won it... I would:

1. Tithe my 10% to my church ( making sure it went to causes we do throughout the world )
2. Make sure my immediate family and friends were in good shape ( I define friends, they don't define me as a friend ) for the rest of their lives via trusts and endowements
3. Find a place or two that my wife and I would love to hang up our hats to call "Home".. ( Heck, that might be Disneyworld )
4. Facilitate the ability for Kim and I to do our favorite hobbies.. For me personally, I would start up a Mopar-restoration business in nice shop. The front entrance would look something like the famous Richard Petty Superbird advertisement..
5. Start a friendly rivalry with Tim Wellborn on the best Mopar collection..  :icon_smile_big:
