Anyone have any experience with Kirby Bishop steering boxes? How much play on the steering input shaft is acceptable?

I have two used boxes and both had what I thought what was unacceptable play. I just swaped one over for a rebuilt exchange unit but it too has a bit of play, about 1/16 turn. I'm not terribly happy with that much as it is emphasized with a big steering wheel. The rebuilt box comes from a reputable business with a 2 year warranty and are upgraded with a roller bearing in the cap instead of a bushing.

Is this just how they are?
