Thinking about getting one of these. Anyone have any thoughts? Not much less than a scissor lift, but I think the open area under the car and the ease of storing it out of the way and 110V make it nice for somebody with limited space. Very nice for brake work, oil changes, exhaust work, etc.

Why are you thinking about this lift , your ceiling height to low ?

General_01

Not really. I have 10 foot ceilings. Not sure if I have the room side to side for a permanent four post or two post lift. We always have 3 cars in our garage, but it is a pretty tight 3 car garage. I have been doing a little more research and think this is what I might really be looking for. Dannmar MaxJax 2 post portable lift.

The Ranger lift is nice and quick for doing brake work and oil changes though, but I could probably get more uses and height out of the two post and then be able to move it out of the way when not using it.

Keep in mind , if you had a four post lift , you can store/park a car ( or anything else for that matter ) under it . With all the debate when it comes to lifts , I don't like the look of that MaxJax other than standing outside it to take tires off . I wouldn't go under that . My 2 post lift has 20''x 21'' base plates bolted to the floor with 6 bolts on each . That MaxJax only has 2 on each ? NTM , the fastening point in the floor to be removable like that is what is called "drop in" anchors that you have to "set" the pin . At least on a permanently mounted 2 post , they are wedge anchors that only get tighter as /when being pulled up on .
If I were in you situation , and you can't do a 4 post or a 2 post , I'd get a Mid rise scissor lift . :Twocents:

Yes, I would like a 4 post the most.

I do see 5 bolts per base on the Max Jax. I have actually decided to get one. I think it will serve my purposes, but just like anything else I will have to use common sense when I set it up.

Thanks for your input. It is always nice to hear different viewpoints when trying to make a decision.
