Don't know your problem and I'm not a tech but have had Uverse for years.   Biggest problem I've had is with the house wiring.  When I first got the system and as I increased internet speed and used HD I had problems with the equipment and TV picture (pixilating (sp) and freezing.)  I had several visits from AT&T to fix the problems.  They made things better but did not completely cure my woes.  The last visit was from a guy that knew his stuff.  Basically, he told me, my house wiring was too old (27 year old house).  I had the house wired for cable when it was built and evidently the old style coax is not up to snuff for todays digital signals plus there where too many connections/splices.  He ran a whole new Cat5 cable from the AT&T box behind my garage, all the way to the household router.   Then a new cable from the router to my computer (that has my computer wifi on it).  He also got rid of my other wired TV boxes and installed all wireless boxes.  Never had a problem again for the last couple of years.

Mitch..
My house is only 7 years old... I had Uverse back when the house was brand new, but got rid of it when I had pixilating problems and freezing and no one could ever fix it, went to DirectTV ( about 2011). I did keep Uverse as my internet provider though. Fast forward to now. Went back to Uverse last month as part of the overall bundling package; tv, internet, cell phones and home security. Well, the VIP1200 boxes ( the silver ones just like I had in 2007 started to pixalate again and had a tech come out Sat. He told me he knew the problem, the old box outside just wasn't cutting the mustard, it was outdated and it was probably degraded over time. It isn't made for the increase bandwidth over the fiber-optics our community has ( there was fiber before in 2007, but apparently it is better now ). Well, because I have an old account # from my 2007 days, they would not be proactive in swapping out the old box outside. I would have to cancel my account and create a new one in order for me to get the new box and matching new router inside. I thought that was stupid and so did he, but he had to follow the corporate rules. Also, there's the whole "stream" thing that I can't get a bloody straight answer on. Original retailer told me I could get HD channels on all my TVs at the same time on different channels ( I have 7 believe it or not ). Then I'm told I can only get 3 HD streams of which a recording at the same time takes away. Then another person told me I could only have 4 TV's at any given time working.... I don't know who to believe any more. THEN, I was told if the new box/router combination that is supposedly being installed on Saturday gives me even more bandwidth, I could have 6 HD streams at one time....... Lordy!!!!

You have a box outside, and fiber directly to the house?? Is the box outside the fiber to copper transducer?? I'm still on copper.  The "smart guy"  told me to get my router inside (mine use to be in the garage) and that's when he ran a new wire for my service.  He ran it directly to the box location from the AT&T service connection behind my garage, no splices, etc.

Wow, six at once!  I have a fairly up to date system and the limit is 4.  When I had the "smart" guy come out he said the number of things I can have going on at one time was four,  that's it was because of the number of channels in the router.  My wife likes to record a lot of programs on Sunday night, if she's recording 3 and watching 1 then I have to watch what she watching (Downtown Abbey   :eek2:) or play a DVD.

Mitch.
I'm not sure what is after the fiber once it is inside the box attached to the exterior wall by the garage. But, I have that exterior box AND a router inside the house. We'll see what happens Saturday when the new hardware swap out occurs....
