Hi, My 76 Cordoba transmission was rebuilt about 5000 miles ago, with new torque converter, I bought like that, I do have the receipt, But no info what size,  it's a 400 BB, 727, 276 gear, shifting for park to drive or reverse I have no problems, but going to 2nd, or 1st gear it's very stiff, from 1st gear or second gear going into drive it's very stiff, I got to be careful when shifting, I don't use those gears a lot, but would be nice what would cause that problem?, I did lubricate the linkage, didn't help. Any help would be great.  Thanks...Sylvain

I would disconnect the linkage at the transmission lever and operate the lever by hand, if the trans lever isn't stiff in the 1 and 2 positions the problem is in the linkage. Disconnect each component one-at-a-time to see where the stiffness originates.
