Loose Wing Vents

The wing vents on my '70 Charger have loose fit at the bottom pin/pivot such that when I drive with them open they close on their own from the wind.  Is there a fix for this?

If you take the vent window frame out, the stud for the pivot of the vent window frame is tightened up by tightening a screw that clamps the sheetmetal around the stud. Sometimes that stud is broke and you replace the frame around the vent window

If you take the door panel off, you can reach up and tighten the went window tension screw with a 90 degree phillips screwdriver.

Thanks.  Just tried that.  Was able to get the 90° driver in there but screw is pretty tight.  Looks like I'm going to have to pull frame out where I can get more access to it, but I've taken every bolt out and still can seem to get it (window frame) to come out.  Seems to still be fastened up towards the top but don't see any bolts.  Any ideas?

Thank you for directing me to this.  Should be big help.  I did notice that on your 8th picture you show an access hole in the upper part of the door for the allen screw.  Mine does not have that access hole.  I can feel what does appear to be a cap screw in there but can't get access without a hole.  Seems odd that there is no hole.  I suppose I can drill one but always hesitant to do that, even though would be covered.  Thanks, again.

Sure.  Here are a few.  First one shows picture from inside of door looking up.  Third one shows location where cap screw is behind door.

And here is one showing the nut plate where the set screw attaches.  I suppose I can see if I can get in there with an Allen wrench.

Just looked at my doors and there are no access holes for the screw.  Here's a pic of one of my wing windows with my finger pointing to the screw that needs to be tightened.

Edit:  I see that you've already tried.  Might want to try again as mine were pretty rusted up and hard to turn.

Thanks.  I just got it out (window frame).  Evidently, that cap screw is just a clamp that holds the frame in.  Just loosening it a few turns with an Allen allows frame to be lifted out.  I can see on yours how it works.  Thanks for all the help.

oh right ! so both you guys have not got the hole I have on my door ?

thinking about it  , don't think I've seen XH29 chargers with a hole in that location  :scratchchin:

Glad you got the window out.

While I was looking at my doors I noticed something.  My car is a 69 XP.  Look at the picture below and you will see my old door and an AMD door I bought, thinking I was going to replace the driver side.  First pic shows my old door with the access hole for the bolt that holds the frame in and another hole closer to the front for the front of the frame.  Now look at the second pic.  The AMD door has none of the big holes just one small one at the back.  So, does this match a 70 door??

Edit: just figured out the hole towards the front(second pic) is for the remote mirror nob.  Guess AMD wants you to drill it if you want the inside control. :shruggy:
Edit #2:  Tan Top  looks like our 69 cars match (just looked at you window thread, neat),  the holes change on the 70.

 thinking about this  , Chrysler might have redesigned the door  press / cutting tool , for the 70 model doors , not to automatically cut /punch holes   because  of the 70 XH29 cars , had no upper door pad ,   :shruggy:
