How are the Janek headlight assemeblies? Are they well made and rugged? I'm Ready to order the doors and headlamp panels or whatever they're called. I don't need Z-braces or OEM appearance.  I plan to fabricate pivots and use linear actuators for operation. I just need a good rugged setup that's actually affordable.

This picture is from Oldcarnut's build thread. These are the parts I need and I'll probably buy the buckets unless someone can get me a tracing of the side. I don't need the buckets, just the pivot point.

I might have something for ya but working till late tonight so it may be tomorrow.  I.may have extra pivots of the type I used too

I spent a "LOT" of time re-working the parts I got from Ted....way more than I think I should have

I've spent a lot on parts that fit that description but from what I saw in Oldcarnut's thread, I'm expecting the fab work and his turned turned out great. I'm not exactly building a stock clone. My steel nose will be a "lift off" nose as it's a drag car. The headlight mechanisms, doors, and buckets (my fabbed versions) will all remain on the car.

Very cool! I like how yours worked out.

The GTO actuators are a cool idea, but vacuum operation isn't an option for this application.

Here are what my pivots started out as.  They were cut off windshield wiper assy's.  They're brand new. How I got them I can't say  ;).  It just worked good for me because they had the shaft, bearings, and casing with a seal already complete. I welded the casing to alum adjusters I made using the ones as templet in the kit. I was keeping a couple as a spare but I have so much spare stuff now to get rid of and the likelihood of me wearing the others out isn't really there.  Are these looking like something you could use on yours?

Yes, that would allow me to emulate your setup and still use a linear actuator on each headlight so I can walk in between them. PM me or email me and I'll send you the money. Also, let me know your thoughts on the Janek headlight parts. I'm going probably go with his headlight buckets and light assemblies.

If you look at the pic of the backside of the plate, you'll see I made and put in a metal reinforcement plate to back up the pivot mount.  I didn't feel real good about just having that fiberglass piece support of opening and closing and I wanted it more rigid as I had thought about it flexing too much plus the work fatigue.   I didn't have any problems (yet) with the headlight assy.  Haven't used them other that testing in the garage but I don't foresee anything.  Seemed sturdy enough to me.  There is somebody here that makes a metal one but I don't know his prices. How much is the fiberglass headlight bucket assy going for?  Mine all came in Teds kit but it doesn't seem that it would be too hard to make it all from steel especially if your going non stock.  I guess it would be a cost vs time to make evaluation for me.  Just email me your address to oldcarnut@comcast.net   I didn't pay for the pivits so it would generally be the cost of shipping.

Those bottom ones are Gean Gregory made pieces and while his craftsmanship is incredible so are his prices. I'm Going to call Ted Janek this afternoon for his pricing. I'll email you my address.
