Hello -

Currently replacing the existing 4.10 gears on a spool with 3.55 gears and a Truetrac.  8.75" rear end, 489 case, 30 spline axles, 29 spline pinion.

I have:

and the Ratech rebuild kit:

The carrier bearing inside diameter is much too small to fit the differential.  I didn't grab any pics this time, but the bearing is more than 1/16" too small.  Bearings are Timken.

I'll get some measurements with calipers over the weekend, but did I order the correct kit?

Thanks!

There are two different carrier bearings, both have the same diameter outer race but the bearing bore is different. '68 and earlier is 1.80" while '69 and later is 2.00".

Obviously you have 1.80" bearings and a carrier that needs 2.00" bearings. (SKF LM104949 )
Pardon me but my karma just ran over your dogma.

That explains it, thanks!
