I would have thought the Fast and the Furious crowd would have taken some of the "You should" comments.

The F&F car has the notoriety but it doesn't have such a signature image.

Virtually the only consistent thing about it is the dark gray or black color.  Even the supercharger was gone for one of the movies.

Outside of the first movie, the Charger never really was a major icon in the series.  Just a signature more or less.

Mike DC

It's Dom's signature car.  But it hasn't saved the day in every adventure like the GL or Knight Rider.  It's just one of the cast I guess.

It did have a big role in #7 though.  Even more so if you count the off-roader Charger, another black '70 that was built for Dom.

At least the first one was somewhat believable. The later ones I found hard to get into.

Cdr's Charger from this forum would look right at home in the F&F, personally I'd hate F&F comments but I love the "down to business" look about it. I guess other Chargers feel the same about DOH comments.

Hence somewhat... The wheelie was a lot more believable then pulling a vault out of the wall and dragging it down the road taking out buildings. Or racing out of a collapsing parking garage only to jump out off a section that just happens to fall in front of the car, while still in mid air hanging a bag of granades off a helicopter, which the rock shoots with a .50 cal blowing up the helicopter.

I'll take the wheelie instead

I used to think that wheelie was impossible too until i witnessed it 1st hand. No photoshop here....

Speaking from this side of the pond....and I'm still in the planning budgeting side for my build and still looking for a car to rebuild but....... I was looking at a GL replica but have decided against it. Even though I'm the UK where Chargers are rare I think I would not build a GL as it would just be too common! Strange?.....well its because of the fact that of all the Chargers I've seen on the road in the UK (which is probably about 6 in my 49 year life) nearly all were GLs....I think now its just about been done to death IMO. As stated above the flag is not an issue in the UK with 99% of folks only even knowing the flag from the show and knowing nothing of its history.
Personally I would rather have Dom or Blades Charger.....but I'm not doing that either as I'm not into the matt paint look. Leaning towards high gloss black with a red strip (nothing new but looks great IMO)....or possibly (bit more controversial) dark metallic blue with "real" style lighter blue flames. Like the pics below if I can figure out how to attach them!! (although only flames from leading edges not the wheel arches (fenders!)). But the whole point is I think it is cooler to be more original than all the GLs and quite easy with a little imagination....especially over here where NOT being a GL Charger would stand out more!!! Don't get ne wrong I love GLs and I'm the right age and have full respect for those you guys have built.....just not for me.

If at first you don't succeed, skydiving is not for you !!

I didn't say wheelies were impossible, I said the F&F one is not believable.  I will stand by my statement.

After seeing your work, Brian, ANY car is a good one to start from for you! Seriously can't wait to watch you build another car. I haven't been around much until here lately, you still have the White 68 and Green 69?

I think he was referring to the fact that it's moving forward on a wheelie and the tires are smoking at the same time.

Everyone looks at the movie and says it's impossible.  I don't see why.
Improbable?  Yes.  But if cars with all 4 wheels on the ground can spin tires and move forward at the same time, then it can happen during a wheelie too.  The physics don't rule it out.

The most unrealistic thing about the F&F#1 wheelie was the way the car lurched up to a certain angle and then paused & hung exactly there.  Hydraulic bars underneath the chassis don't produce a natural motion.  Having the weight hung out behind the rear bumper (subsequent F&F movies) does the job so much better.
