Looking to see if there are any other active members that have one, I know they are rare, have had the registry check on numbers, and I've made contact with one other RT SE Y3 tan top owner in Michigan, trying to locate the others, just to see status of projects or finished cars.  Mine is mostly finished with its restoration, and resto mod updates.  Target date for re-roading it is end of this year.

Mine was a Y3 R/T SE,  but the vynil top and the fender tag were both gone when I bought it so I don't know which color the top was.

if it was coded v1t on build sheet or fender tag it was a tan top.  But not having either makes it hard to discover otherwise.  Unless there is a piece hanging on one of the clips around the glass.

If the car isn't restored, you may find some large strips under the trim particularly at the top. The factory used heavy gauge staples to secure the vinyl top to the roof skin under the length of those top pieces.

I'm in the process of a full restoration and it's totally apart. Unfortunately I didn't find any pieces of left over vynil. The vynil trim was gone and the holes were welded shut when I bought it.

there was a guy on here or the old site , who bought a real good  R/T SE  in Y3 with a tan top & interior , & turned it in to a GL , think the car was even unrestored  or mostly original   :scratchchin:  :popcrn:

I can see how someone might want a specific combination and getting any car then putting your stamp on it for whatever color it ends up.  When I got mine I was 17, and it just happened to go up for sale on the way to my paper route which I delivered in an 66 mustang convertible until I could get my own car.  And it was for sale in the 3 months I was looking for a car.  Guess fate played a hand for me.  After time passed and I never saw others did I look into rarity, and was surprised at how rare they actually are.  back in the old days I didn't modify it much because I was broke most of the time, or never well enough to buy "performance parts".  Now, after taking it apart and putting it back together (a job much bigger than I thought it was when I started) its nice to own something that very few others have, they stand out in their own way.  Wish it had a cooler name, sunfire sounded cool, crème...well, not as exciting a name, but it looked good to me.  I still remember my choices at the time, a 66 GTO clone for 400 , a 69 440 six pack super bee with a disassembled motor for 400, and the charger I bought for 1000 obo, (800).

I know my car was rare being an R/T SE Y3 but it still had the original Y3 on it when I bought it and i just couldn't bring myself to go back with it lol, that and I wasn't going to do another vinyl top. The guy I bought my car from pulled it out of a wrecking yard in 1986 after someone stole the engine and transmission out of it. When I got it he had put a correct date coded 69 HP440 and trams in it but not numbers matching

I'll have to link in some pics that are already available, it will be much easier without the other car sitting next to it in the garage, and I have someone interested in that one, we'll see if he comes through early next month.  With the two project cars gone can focus more on the dd and charger more.  Sold the miata finally so now have the space to move the charger out front if I want to.  Have to get it running again, the timing is off and have to set timing manually.

This one was back in the 70s when I still drove it. it is a picture of another picture out of the scrapbook, so ignore the date.

Here is a picture when I was stripping the original paint off, had to determine if it had bodywork I wasn't aware of, found one spot in front fender that had been worked on, cut out and repaired rear quarter rust, welded in a new patch panel, other side didn't need cutting out.
