This is a video of my fresh 440. I broke the cam/ motor in about a month ago. I fired it up today to try and dial it in best I could.

The specs on the Engine are as follows

440 - bored .030
Stock 906 Heads totally rebuilt with 3 angle valve job (75 throat cut) , back cut valves, bowl blend - clean up, intake gasket matched, stock rockers
Stock LY rods resized with ARP bolts
Stock crank cleaned up .010 .010
ICON 9953 Pistons
Engine assembly balanced
Stock replacement Oil Pump
Comp cams XE274 with kit ( Lifters, 3 piece timing set, 911-16 springs )
Edelbrock Performer RPM intake - gasket matched
Holley 750 vac Sec.  (3310s)
Headman 1 3/4 ceramic coated headers
2 1/2" with X pipe - Dynomax ultra Flows
Mopar Electronic ignition - orange box
Fire Core 8.5 mm Wire and NGK plugs
Timing set 18 deg. Base

Setup went as follows - Timing set, Idle set, adjust idle air and re-adjust idle. The A/f screws seem to have very little effect on the idle, I can kill the motor if I turn one in to much, and the motor will die if I close the choke or put my hand over the carb. I don't think I have any vacuum leaks.

This is my first engine i have had built , My question is my vacuum seem to be fluctuating to much?  Not sure if this is typical of this cam? The engine has not seen any load since I am still assembling the front suspension. Maybe I shouldn't be worrying to much until I can actually take the car on the road and allow the rest of the engine to break in?

The zoom in on the front fuel bowl is a small fuel leak I noticed.

Vacuum looks fine....that's about right for that cam profile.  :yesnod:

Engine sounds nice, smooth idle and nice throttle response.  :2thumbs:

Idle is around 800 timing is set at 18. If I bump it to your specs I get the same 15" vacuum . Just seems a little to fast to me . And the 20 degrees will give me to much total .

Thanks for the replys!

yeah , I found if was a little too fast , for me too , after I dialled it in , but  I have a tightish  converter ,&  in drive it comes down to 6-625ish rpm ,
should you decide , !  to want to run 20 degrees  initial  ,  its easy to adjust total mechanical advance , although I bit time consuming , depending on the distributor you have .
