I took my Hellcat Challenger to a car show soon after I got it, but I didn't enter into any class . Just so people could check one out.

In general, brand new cars at a car show is a turn off for me. However, the Hellcats are rare and amazing enough to warrant it. It's not like doing the same thing with a new Camry. A few years ago I was at a cruise in (not even a real show) and there were seven Camaros with the window stickers still on them. Seven. You're not that cool when everyone has a car just like it!

Every carshow it's the same thing. People bring in their brand new totally stock brand new Camaros, Challengers, Mustangs, etc. If I want to see those I'll walk around a dealership.

Now if that off the lot new Challenger has a custom paintjob or really custom engine work that is something else.

yeah , i'm like that when I see modern / new muscle cars at show   , these are all awesome cars but ,don't think they should be with the old 60/early 70s  cars     no offence meant .
   as awesome as a viper is  , don't think these should be parked in the same area at shows to 60s 70s muscle cars  , too modern ! ,  although the  weird thing is a 92 viper  is 23 years old today give or take  , when I bought my 69 charger it was 19 years old

I guess it was a semi rant on my part for my friends who build old classic cars and go to these shows and don't win nothing and some random dude gets out of his hellcat and people go crazy over it and his response is, 'Oh I just got it from my dealership just drove off and came here' and gets a trophy......

I have friends with 66, 67, 68, 69, 70 chargers who have not won nothing and have put over 100k into their builds...not that its a big deal its just a trophy, but I find it weird I guess buying a car off the lot and immediately going to a car show and being judged in it....to win that trophy

.  ----I have a hellcat and bought it because of what it is and to grab the experience of feeling how it drives. The thought of taking it to a car show has not been a part of why I bought it.
I also understand the draw to them because of the press and owner hype. There is little question about their popularity. This--I shook the hand of so and so draw that they have now will pass quickly.

A car club get together for a brand and style specific car is a different kind of celebration that I may take my car to. I'm interested in meeting other owners and comparing experiences.

I agree that a car show that is about 40+ year old muscle cars (for example) is no place for a new Bentley.

Yup been to a couple shows where a plain factory brand new car has won "best of show" or "best muscle". Kind of annoying when you see cars where someone has put in 10 years and thousands of dollars lose.

Granted one of these shows I remember a Austin Mini won "best asian import"...

Haven't done a real car show since somewhere in the 90's, but the rule was any car entered always had to be a least 15 model years old back then. So in 1989 the newest car allowed would have been a '74 .

You do have to admit though, the judges are just like everyone else, and want to see something fresh every once in a while.  Hellcat fits the bill perfectly.  Now, if the same Hellcat showed up every year for the next 10 years, I doubt that it'll be pulling the trophies.

had a guy here in Phoenix buy a hellcat challenger, PCP, manual, etc...he said these cars are so valuable he is NOT gonna drive it.  He took pictures of everything, where it stood at the dealership, mangers signatures, etc...then had it TOWED from the dealership straight into into his GARAGE......didn't even want to start it up to ruin the internals he claims or take, 'LIFE" away from it..  

This is NO JOKE....and NOT kidding...dude had it towed so that he would NOT start it up paid in CASH right out of the dealership.

It's amazing what people with too much $$ will do.  Some of their actions seem ludicrous.

Pointless.  He could die tomorrow and he never would have enjoyed his investment.  But then again, we drive our stuff and could die tomorrow as well.  Se la vi...

If you're never going to start a car up, look at it, sit in it, etc, then why even own it? 

At that point it's just money on paper.  Only it costs a lot more than paper money to store & insure.
