Moparman01

I have absolutely no problem with modern American muscle showing up to car shows and cruise nights. First and foremost they are American muscle cars, and basically the "grand kids" of our 60's/70's old school muscle machines. Now, i do NOT feel they should ever be competing against classic cars, it's an apples to oranges comparison, put the modern muscle into there own classes! Then, to me, it's no harm no foul to bring out your Challenger R/T or SRT, roushe mustang, or ss camero and show it off, bone stock or modified to the hill! It's not the same as bringing a toyota camery to show!

Two things, it's not just undeserving "new car" owners that win local shows. I hate to say this but i've won numerous trophy's with my General Lee replica simply because it's the General Lee. Truth is, my General is FAR from perfect, it's a 30 footer at best with a hot 440, but plenty of bubbling going on under the paint and wavy rear quarters. It needs work (actually it was scheduled to go under the knife but the plan fell thru, so i decided to send my '68 off to the body shop first). I stopped entering it into trophy hand out shows, especially after the year i won 1st place at a big local show and a good friend of mine got nothing with his freshly ground up restored/hot rodded '54 Ford that is gorgeous Candy Apple red custom paint and 428 Cobra Jet and 4 speed for power, i felt like a complete a**hole for receiving that trophy over him (and probably 100 other cars more deserving). On the other hand, i also have a 2010 Challenger R/T Classic of which i take to cruise in's from time to time, especially ones that are a long distance away. Do to some logistical reasons with my time, it makes more sense some weekends to jump in the Challenger and go to a cruise in function over my classic machines. I still bring out my 71 Demon to 95% of our local cruise night get togethers! Only once a year does my '10 Challenger get entered in trophy/judged show, but they have a big modern Challenger class with about 30-40 modern Challengers, mild to wild. My Challenger is almost stock, save for Cold Air induction and Mopar Performance exhaust. Cosmetically i would/will not change a thing, i feel the Classic edition was the best "package" available on these cars, the Heritage rims, classic scripture, and longitudinal side stripes just look perfect to me! And it's a fairly rare color combo, Hemi Orange with white side stripes (326 in that combo) and a 6-speed. I've never won a trophy with the car, and that's perfectly fine with me and i don't want to win! Now when my '68 is finished, a trophy or 2 would be pretty cool, we'll see how that works out an couple years! So basically, hot cars are hot cars, let the modern guy's come out and have some fun with their rides too!

I'm curious  :scratchchin:  Who are you referring to as being a dodge hater?---Without a quote attached it's hard to tell.

I know I'm not a "dodge hater" because the Dodge name has been with me since I bought a 69 superbee new.

In 09 I bought a challenger srt8 and it was a Fiat.  Before that they were Mercedes  I don't dwell on the name of the cool cars with the name "Dodge" on them because of the name.-- For me the real dodges are antiques and where my collector interest is.

I don't mine that the new cool cars have the same name but they are clearly a world away from what we celebrate the most here.
The marketers have sense enough to not call the challenger or charger a Fiat.

Being a Hellcat owner, I aint no hater. I just threw the video up because it was ridiculous.

I think that video is more on-target than we want to admit, at least in terms of how the Hellcat relates to Mopar's current condition.  The car is cool but it's just a distraction from the company's real issues.

Charger-Bodie

I think it's the key to their problems. Chrysler has always had their best times when concentrating on performance cars. It's what they do best.
68 Charger R/t white with black v/t and red tailstripe. 440 4 speed ,black interior
68 383 auto with a/c and power windows. Now 440 4 speed jj1 gold black interior .
My Charger is a hybrid car, it burns gas and rubber............

I agree that performance & style are what they do best.

But that only works during eras when tons of working people have excess money to waste on crappy cars.  That is not the present or the foreseeable future.

On the other hand quality sells all the time.  It still helps even when people have excess money.

Charger-Bodie

But"... Everything they build sells better when they are building performance .
68 Charger R/t white with black v/t and red tailstripe. 440 4 speed ,black interior
68 383 auto with a/c and power windows. Now 440 4 speed jj1 gold black interior .

skip68

I've often wondered if the Chrysler performance line sells better because they do hit homeruns but also are limited in numbers compared to ferd and cheby.    :shruggy:
skip68, A.K.A. Chuck \ 68 Charger 440 auto\ 67 Camaro RS (no 440)       FRANKS & BEANS !!!

How can a product line sell "better" because they make fewer of them?

They can't raises prices on their hi-po models by a few thousand bucks and make up for not selling a ton more of them.  The number of cars is amount of profit.

Realistically, no amount of Hellcat sales will keep Mopar afloat.  No amount of Hellcats + SRTs of all models will do it either.  The profits from these cars don't even have enough zeroes for that.

But the Japanese brands have proven plenty of times that boring high-quality models will keep a company afloat.    They can sometimes even spawn a thriving enthusiast crowd.

Don't worry about it. Believe it or not, I too actually made a mistake once.
