Settle It - Schumacher Mounts / 73-74 B Big Block Conversion

Its been mentioned several times on this site that when using the Schumacher conversion mounts to put a big block into a 73-74 B-body, that the engine sits higher than with stock mounts. I've heard as much as 1-inch, but that seems like a lot. A different height can throw off the drive line angle and can make header fitment a party-pooper. I know I had to mangle the Hookers more than normal.

I am posting photos of a 73 Charger, original 318 K-frame, with Schumacher conversion mounts install per the directions. Measuring with a straight edge across the fenders, it is 9 inches from the straight edge to the 440 pad by the drivers cylinder head. To know once and for all I need someone with an original 440 73-74 Charger to take the same measurement for comparison.

Alternately, I measured 9-3/8" from a straight edge across the fenders to the water pump boss (see 3rd photo), so this could be compared to a 73-74 Charger with stock motor mounts and a 383 or 400.

I expect some variations due to worn out trans mounts, etc. but this exercise will give us an idea.

This is really insightful and I'm sure will help a lot of people! I'm hoping to do this very install this weekend, and I will take measurements and pictures to see how close we line up ( to get an idea how much variation there is with the schumacher mounts, if any, or differences with small block k frames). Also, I'm installing in front of an A833, so we'll see if that changes anything. My car has the small block k-member with conversion mounts from Schumacher, so it will be apples to apples for comparison

I can't help with the original 440 k frame numbers.  I have a 440 sitting on schumaker  mounts on a '73 318 k frame. mine measured 8 1/2 " to the pad. The stock pan is about 1/4-1/2 " higher than the bottom of the k frame.  Hedman headers fit with some work, mostly for the Eddy heads and mini starter. I have a A518 trans with no driveshaft issues.  

Eight years so far. The mounts are poly and hold up well but transfer more vibration to the steering wheel.  I replaced the worn rubber k frame isolators with poly. I think the k frame is slightly  farther from the stub frame than it was with the worn factory ones. Did not think to measure before and after.

Checked my 73 Charger, replaced the original 400 engine with a 69 383 using the 400 mounts, new trans mounts. These enginenes does not look 100% same at that spot but think I measured at same spot you did, top of bolt boss:

Yea, we are probably being a little less than scientific here, but that is good input. Thanks.
