Putting my valve body back into my 727 with the parking rod installed.  Having trouble pushing the end of the rod back into the tranny.  Seems to be a metal piece that slides to the left and is spring activated. This piece is preventing me from installing the parking rod.  Any tricks from the masters?  Thanks.

While pushing rod into parking pawl try rotating the driveshaft back and forth some. It will slip in.

Ok, dang I wish I had 3 arms.  This will be interesting.  Thanks.

You can reach in the hole with your pinkie and push sideways on the pawl (on the left in pic below) while turning the driveshaft, you'll hear it click into Park. Then guide the bulb end of the Park rod up the tapered ramp and past the pawl.
Pardon me but my karma just ran over your dogma.

Got it. We are good to go. Thanks.
