76 Dodge Warlock potential worth?

I'll post pics when I get some sent to me.  But the story I got from the seller I ran into at a cruise went like this.  He walked up off the street at a Sonics looking at the cars and started talking to me about mine and a truck next to it.  Then he asked if I might know anyone interested in a 76 black Warlock truck he had and was going to sell.  Supposedly little to no rust, wood bed needs redoing, 360 a/c auto and running good. $700 with some other minor issues to take care of.  I told him I was and he said he'd text me pics when he got home.  That was 2 weeks ago and I reminded him today and he still has it and will send something this afternoon.  Thought it might be a cool truck to drive around for a while and resell down the road a bit.  Just wondering what potential resell value or interest it may have for me to judge how much I should look at putting into it to make it nicer.

If it is in good shape, I'd say at least $2100. If I could get away with it(wife), I'd give ya twice what ya pay for it(if ya pay 700 that is). Can't wait to see pics when ya get 'em.

these trucks are hard to prove without proper paperwork, they were an added package, VIN doesnt say if its one or not.
read this thread, has info on them

Seem to remember a big block advertised in them, but could be wrong.  I used to think the name was cool when they were new, back then I hadn't taken on my namesake on car forums.  I was a bit young in 76...15 I think.  I liked the little red express back then too, but look at them today and they are hard to consider.  They didn't get as collected as we thought they would.

Allpar says the 440 was an option with the warlock trucks, but the most common engine was the 318.

I would think it'd be worth 3k to 5k but that is just a guess, there are people that look for them i'm sure.

Dodge had only produced 74 D-150 pick-ups with a 440 under the bonnet that year.

Suspect it would be a 400. My '77 Ramcharger has a 400 BB, my F-in-laws '78 had a 360 SB.

Warlocks could get any engine from a 225 to a 440, unlike the LRE trucks that only had the E58 360.

Warlocks were most popularly bought in black with gold stripping, but were also available in maroon, dark green, and orange. The colors are more rare but not necessarily more desirable since black was most popular in the day.

Like lukedukem said, it was a package added to any step side truck, so there is no unique vin proving what they are.

That's a good looking truck.  I bet it would make an awesome tow vehicle, especially if you had an F8 car to pull behind it.

People like that suck!  Unfortunately how it goes when trying to buy something 2nd hand though...  It's even worse with smaller items.
