I didnt follow that listing at the time, but was told it went over 60 grand, but reserve not met. Ultimately sold to a collector in Brazil with a big warehouse and an even bigger wallet.

Searching for a Brazilian Charger RT

Kern Dog

There was a South American A body at the Spring Fling in Van Nuys a couple of years ago. Those extended C pillars and grille do look strange compared to the 67-76 A body cars I've seen for years.
I like seeing different stuff though. I wouldn't choose a Brazilian Charger for mine but I'd like to own one. I like the Brazilian Charger more than the Australian one.

Nacho-RT74

The extended C pillars began on Mexican Darts. Years later was used on Brazil for the Charger made there. If still a Dart maybe you saw a Mexican unit, so is NorthAmerica, not SouthAmerica

The first time I went to Mazatlan almost thirty years ago, I saw quite a few darts withe the extended C pillar and was completely blown away by them.

I'd bet there's still a few down there stashed away

I am assisting on the first brazilian Charger that is going to the US to a lucky forum member, can't share much right now but I will create a new thread when the time is right, keep tuned for news.  ;)

Did they tool up whole different quarter panel skins?

It looks like that difference might be achievable with patch pieces added on.  And I'm guessing quite a few of those cars got vinyl tops.

Armudster

It's a patch piece. All of them had vynil roofs, but some were special ordered without.

Interesting.

Did they pull off that front end using the standard North American hood & fenders?  It looks possible.

Nacho-RT74

Fenders are maybe 70/71. Can't tell the hood? The one of the pic got GTS hood thought. I can't tell about each model year. Aren't 70/72 Valiants with header panel? So maybe they come from them.

Remember these Brazilian Chargers were made on 70s, so the 70/71 Fenders were already available ( you can see the side markers )

Note: the Mexican Darts with extended C pillars are 70s ones, while these Chargers are 67/69 quarter panels, so I guess yes, the extension must be a filler as mentioned.

Armudster

They used the standard US Fenders and Hood. Fenders are 67-69, Hood is a 68-69 GTS with 68 Hood trims. Yes, the Charger Grille fit the standard US Fenders/ hood.
here is what changed on BR Chargers:
- Grille surrounds
- Grille
- Headlight buckets
- Rear C Pillar Patch Panel
- Rear trunk finish panel trim with vynil center
- Taillights
- Side Stripes (different for each year)
- Gauge Panel
- Console top plate for 4 Speed
- Shifter
- Leather Bucket seats (we only had real leather)

A clone can be pulled off, even the Factory, back in the day could install a Charger Grille on your nice New Dart. A lot of those parts can be found today, some are cheap, some are more expensive, but the most difficult part to execute is the C Pillar  patch piece.

Hey Nacho, how are you doing? Hopefully you are safe and good. It's been a while since we last interacted.
