Dear Forum members.
My car has stock Brigestone Firehawke GT 245 45 20 tires. I have to say they don't seem the best of tires. It has the 20-Inch x 8.0-Inch Satin Carbon Aluminum Wheels.
Could you please help me? Can you recommend an affordable tire that cound replace them that would give better grip round corners?
Would 255 45 20 tires be better than the 245 45 20s? Would they give me better grip? And you it be straitforward to swap them out on my stock rims?
Thank you very much.
Craig.

Try Discounttire.com.  The site will tell you what tires will fit, be it stock or optional sizes.  They also list their tires from cheapest to the most expensive to make it easier for you to choose.

They're putting 20" wheels stock on these things?  Wow I guess I'm really old.  Post some pictures of your car...

If you don't drive in the snow go with a summer high performance tire.

Hi There. Thanks for the information. Yes the 20 are standard on the R/T I believe. I just got the standard one.
I'll check out the site for tires. Thanks. Just a bit nervous as I don't know much about them.
Thanks for the tip about summer tires. I live in Southern California so I think that is the way to go!
The present ones say all season.
I got this picture from the lot as I was viewing the thing. My recent photos in the driveway are to big to load.
Cheers Craig

The Firestone tires on a friends 2013 Challenger R/T have a 460 treadwear. The higher the number, the harder the rubber, the longer they last. If you want more grip, you'll need to be prepared to replace tires more often.

I lut uniroyal tigerpaw gtz's on my 07. Gripped well enough to cut 2.00 60' times at the track. Wore well, cornered great. Good middle ground tire thats very close to high end in my opinion. I had bfgs on it before the uniroyals and while the grip was unmatched, they were balled in a year, abiut 12,000 miles and no burnouts.

Nice car.  Use photobucket.com to upload and automatically resize your pictures to post here; upload, copy the IMG link and then paste that into your post.

That might actually work in my favor, as I never put enough miles on my cars to wear the tires down; it's always a sidewall rot that gets the tires first.  I'm thinking the Nitto 555's at least, for my next tire choice...

MYK,
I ran the 555s. Mine have about 14,000 miles on them since 2003. I'm replacing mine only due to age. They still have about 40% tread rear and about 60% in front. ZERO dry rot anywhere but I kept hearing about how tires of this age can be disintegrating from the inside out.
I bought a new set of Nitto NT05s in the same size. The 555s have a 300 treadwear. The NT05s are 200. I figure with my limited usage, I'd have better traction and probably wear these out before time and age take their toll.
