Folks,

I have E440 for a 69 440 block
11 for the start of the casting sequence
HP for high performance, 2 for the second shift

Does anyone know what the '6' is, or the upside down 'A'?
"An aggressive exterior with power to match was enough to pull in the performance boys-especially when abetted by a pair of pipes blaring out the back, and brawny red-sidewall rubber hitting the pavement."

   :2thumbs:

 E series =1969
 440       = 440 cuin
 11 6     =  6th November  68 engine assembly date
 HP        = high performance
  2         = 2nd shift
  A         =   over size cylinder bore  ,  think it  means +20 over  ,  not 100% sure on this  , although A is Deffo over size bore  :scratchchin:  , I await to be corrected  :yesnod: :cheers:

whats the casting date on the side of the block ?

*** EDIT ***   forgot 2     the 2 second shift    :slap:

Yes upside down A is 20 over.  Oddly remember reading that in a Mopar magazine years ago.

Guys,

My id pad pic is posted above, and with the upside down 'A' should be 20 over. I have had the bores measured, and is not 20 over, is 4.32". Does the 'A' on my pad look like a factory stamping. Were they usually stamped upside down? I looks like is has been struck twice/has bounced when punched.
