How to put a 20x13 inch rim in the back?

Hi everyone, my name is Yugi from Jakarta, Indonesia. I am new to this forum and although I have been restoring Belairs, Impalas, C-10s, Mustangs, etc, I am new to the whole Charger world.

My question is, I am planning to put a 20x13 inch wheels in the rear tub. I have enlarged the wheel tub so that it will fit the wheels, but I am not sure of how to handle the rear leaf spring. Right now the wheel will touch the leaf spring. If I opt for a 4-link replacement, will it solve the problem? Or should I move the leaf spring to the inner part of the rear sub-frame? The 2nd option would probably make the car stiffer and less stable, I pressume?

If anyone can give me pointers or tips on how to solve the issue? Thanks much.

Welcome to the forum   What year of Charger are we discussing? :popcrn:

junk the leaf spring, 4 link it

If I use 4 link, would the bracket be in the same position as the leaf spring bracket? Coz if it is, then it will still leave no room for the 13 inch wheel to sit. Unless the bracket position is more inside than the leaf spring?

notch the frame rail and weld in a bracket for the lower 2 links. then weld a cross bar between the 2 frame rails on the top side with 45 degree support tubes and brackets off it for ur upper links. the more narrow u make ur suspension the worse it will handle. make sure u put ur coilovers as close to the tire for stability. you could always just truck arm it then ur suspension is simplified and still handles decent

NOS is nice, turbo's are neat, but when it comes to Mopars, there's no need to cheat...

What's Truck arming?

I haven't been able to find a thread on a DIY 4 link and would like to see if anyone has done this.  I know you can buy a prefab kit for 3-4k of course.   But.... when the ac kit is 1k and the disc brake kit is 1k, and the new EFI kit is 2k and the wheels are   :nutkick:

Welcome! check out page 10 of my build (link below) and you can see how you will need to inboard mount the lower control arms with a 4 link setup or with original spring.
Good luck with your project!
