I figured I would post some pics of the paint job I finished on my car yesterday. Originally a 318/904 car in B3 blue.

It looks amazing in the sun! This color has alot of metallic and pearl with some gold for sparkle which makes it really hard to get to lay right. I had some mottling in the fenders and roof so I need to re-shoot the exterior panels which sux. My SPI clear (the only clear I use) comes in the mail monday so I should have some updated pics of the car in the sun by next week. wish me luck!

Good luck!  Try the dry technique spray for 2=3 coats after your wet coats, it lays the base as a matte right away and disperses the flakes much more evenly.  With tricky paints I layy a lot of base coat down.

I used the SPI Univeral 2.1 voc this summer, not bad at all, especially for the price.   :yesnod:

awesome green color, makes me want to spray my stealth that color.  But can't, have to focus on the y3.

Thanks.

I initially used a high dollar gun I was unfamiliar with (mistake #1), and I was moving way too slow across the panels as I was painting (mistake #2). This paint is highly translucent and takes a ton of product to get the coverage I need over a white sealer. Looking back on it what I should have done is put more coats on instead of heavier coats, I got in a big hurry and did not adhere to the recommended flash times as per the PPG tech sheet. well lessened learned.

Great color choice. That will be a striking color, similar to F6 but with a modern twist to it.
I see that you painted with the doors off. I've found that with metallics and pearls, you need to make sure that you spray all panels  in a position consistent with how they are mounted on the car. The doors in this case should be painted standing up like stock, not laying flat on tables. In truth, they should be on the car. Thjis is because as you spray a panel. you are supposed to spray past it and into the next panel to ensure proper blending. I'll just guess that you are a professional and took measures to do it right. Paint is too expensive to do twice!

Looks great Ryan! I should be able to see your car from my house with that color.    :coolgleamA:
I'll have to swing by and check it out.

Are you planning to put a tail stripe on it?

Any extra paint left over you can spray it on my Duster.    :yesnod:
