The Pontiac club had their annual car show yesterday 10/18. Open to all cars, so I took my car along to display. After the show and on my way out a took this Kodak moment with the harbor in the background. Once I stopped a crowd gathered and took pictures of their own, it was another 20 minutes before I could leave.

My Charger is a hybrid car, it burns gas and rubber............

The spoiler is basically an extension of the body contour, thought it would look better that way instead of too pronounced. I'm making some hinged brackets with adjustable rod ends so it can be changed if I want.

Hollywood, where did you get that spoiler?  I'm really liking that look...

I made the spoiler myself from a piece of 1/8 inch 6061-T6 aluminum. The angle brackets are stainless. Took a while to decide to drill the trunk deck but the spoiler give the car a good look. 90% of the people who see it like it.

Wow great job.  I think it looks great; if that was on my car I'd have the spoiler almost straight up for a wanna-be NASCAR look...

More nice pictures of your car I found on another site, check post #418

If you go to Youtube and search 196i Dodge Charger with Viper V10 you  can see a video a friend posted. It's the green Charger.

Since you guys are in SD, if you want a wing like this hit up Funkhouser Racecars in Ramona. He does that kinda stuff. My buddies 62 Nova is getting a wing as we speak.

Also, is there a facebook page for these events? All I hear about is cars and coffee at JBA or Crusin Grand in Escondido, would love to get the car out a little more.

68CoronetRT,
Dunkers and clunkers every Saturday morning in Bonita next to Vons. We usually get between 50 and 80 cars. Best to get there before 7:30.

Thanks, I'll look into that place.  The problem is having the guts to drill into my decklid.  As for other car gatherings, this might help:

I usually attend Carlsbad Cars and Coffee on Saturday mornings from 7 to 9, though it's usually Ferrari's, Lambo's, etc, sometimes the El Cajon car cruise on Wednesdays at 5pm.  There're plenty of car gatherings to attend in San Diego; damn this states's politics, but God bless our weather...

hollywood1336

Our Dunkers and Clunkers gathering on Saturday mornings is 52 weeks a year weather depending. All old cars, but we could use more Mopar's, it's mostly Chevy's and Ford's that come along. We started out with about 15 to 20 cars and it's grown in popularity so much we have seen 82 cars show up. You need to arrive by 7:30 though because on the popular mornings we have run out of parking space. It's to the left of Vons in Bonita in front of the donut shop.

Not enough Mopars eh?  Looks like I'll have to come out and help even out those odds...

Anyone going to El Cajon for Trunk or Treat tomorrow? I'm taking the Charger down and will be handing out candy to the kiddos. First time going to a show with it.

Oh wow that's tomorrow?  I'll see if I can make it...

hollywood1336

I won't be at trunk or treat, previous appointment.
I put the car on stands on Sunday, I have a list of jobs that need doing underneath I want to get done. Converting all the aluminum fuel tubes to stainless is one of them. Off the road for three weeks.

Might be just you and me, bud.  I hope nothing comes up...

MoparRocks

Well I just finished cleaning her up. Gonna get changed and head down in about n hour as I'm not sure what the procedure is for this and there is no participant info online that I could find. Look for the Richard petty charger. That's me.

What a waste.  Traffic on the 8 kept me out there for a good half hour.  Then when I get there, no ones's manning the entrances to the event so I end up driving in circles.  To make matters worse, there's no street lighting of any kind so you've got little kids running around in dark Halloween costumes with no lights or methods of safety.  I took off before I killed someone or wrecked the car.  I'll have to see you guys another time... :icon_smile_blackeye:

Well we had a blast. Unfortunately my 14 month old daughter was getting cranky after a while as she has had a cold for a few days so my mom took both my wife and daughter home. At the start I was surrounded by Chevys and fords but a nice 72 Roadrunner pulled in a few cars down and a Plymouth drag car pulled in nearby as well. Of course ten minutes after the family leaves I am told I won a trophy. Not too shabby. First car show, first trophy.
