Just looking at pbs and came across this.  Has it been seen/posted?

Who in their right mind would say

"The science should not stand in the way of this."?

Science is just observation and hypothesis.  Policy stands in the way.........

Or maybe it protects us.

I suppose it depends on the specific case.....

Space flight and travel may bring about more virulent diseases, but not zombie like conditions; zombies can't happen.

Besides, this country and most of the people in it are not remotely concerned with space travel these days.  Personally, I don't see that ever changing...

Jersy Shore, Kardashians, Caitlyn Jenner, 500 cable channels, smart phones, self driving cars...I think we are well on the way to creating zombies out of most people already.

No need for a PM, nearly everybody knows the story of the guy who (supposedly) rose from the dead and walked around showing his nail hole scars.

Well I don't think we have anything to worry about if there is only one zombie (God) out there. If you know of any others that have pulled off that hat trick let me know. Or even claimed to have pulled that off.

Back to the virus/zombie thing....watching a news piece on the permafrost melting in Alaska and they mentioned that they found ancient microbes in the melting ice....what if...this is the virus they killed off almost 90% of the humans back a few hundred thousand years ago....I forget the term but apparently mankind was almost wiped out and science isn't exactly sure what caused it.....could the earth be getting ready to cleanse itself.....  :D

Depends on which of a half-dozen definitions of zombie you use.

I'll cover any bet you want that there are not any zombies anywhere on planet Earth.

Interesting.  Ive never pondered the cause, but the near extinction has always fascinated me.   It is the reason, DNA wise,  we are so closely related when compared to other primates.  They estimate human population was down to 15 or 30k, with only about 6k reproducing adults.   And geographically they were all together.  They call it our "genetic bottleneck".    It's kind of fun to imagine what human characteristics/mutations, not contained in the fossil record, that may have been wiped out because they were in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Didn't know this.  Wonder why it was so virulent.
