This is something  I just saw on the local news.  ----The cams can pickup and process license plates all around the cop car and give fast feedback about plate numbers being  watched for. :2thumbs:

At first look I like it.---The expected lash back is from the ACLU and they may have a good argument. But that is their task and I appreciate them being on watch.

I see this as a rare positive coming from current tec.

Those have been in use for years.....they scan every plate the cop passes....and catalog it.....

My Viper was stolen in '03 and recovered due to those license scanning cameras spotting it in an apartment house parking lot.
Pardon me but my karma just ran over your dogma.

The repo guys use them too

Hmmm   I'll try to catch up.

We've had them around here for a while now.  The biggest complaint is about how long will the departments store the data and who has access to the data and for what purpose.

And I thought this was going to be about lift, duration and LSA
Who in their right mind would say

Science is just observation and hypothesis.  Policy stands in the way.........

Or maybe it protects us.

I suppose it depends on the specific case.....

Count me out of the praise.

I'm against anything that gives the govt another way of data-logging us.  It's a matter of time before our every move on the public roads will be permanently recorded.  And then sold to private corporations.

I have a couple friends that work for a large telecom and they mentioned installing a "huge pipe" running down a major interstate. The only real (current) need for that sort of bandwidth is facial recognition.

Sarcasm detector, that's a real good invention.
