Painting the grille support frame

I finished prepping this piece and would like to paint it tomorrow as it will be one of the last days we'll see 70 degrees.  I'm painting the majority in flat black but the top, the part you actually see, is supposed to be semi gloss correct?  I'm a little worried that it won't look right with the factory press waves and spot welds and such in it.  I didn't think to rework the panel and smooth it all out but I'm not willing to do that now.  There's no damage to it, it's good old factory correct.  

I'm having problems with my air lines so I'll have to do this with rattle cans.  I just used Rustoleum Painters Touch 2X on the wiper motor and it looks very nice.  It has a decent gloss to it but not 100%.  Just not sure what it'll look like on a piece this big.

If anyone has pics of their grille frame, original sheen or not, I'd love to see it.  I may still paint this flat black and top it with a satin clear to have a low level gloss.

Go with a semi gloss or full gloss, the flat is too dull. I had mine flat for a while but it just looked ok, painted it gloss and have been much happier with the looks. The waves and stamp marks are there but it still complements a clean engine bay way better than the flat ever did.

I've though about it but I kinda like it there for wiring purposes. Plug under my battery tray looks like crap with all the relays hidden under there.

Alright I shot the panel in VHT roll bar and chassis gloss black for durability.  It was way too windy out to paint but I was running out of good weather.   

I chose this paint over other epoxies as I had read in reviews that their gloss is not a full gloss and it was true.  It's about a 90% gloss and I like the look of it. 

Now if only someone made a panel to close off the gap between this one and the rad support, that would really finish it off.
