F35 from Luke AFB flying over

Today I was working in the flight path of the new F35 jets taking off from Luke. They are LOUD! So turn up your speakers. When they are overhead you can not hear the person next to you. They leave and return in groups. I had the phone ready for the next set coming out and got this video of the last one in the group.

I was stationed there 89 - 91 when we just had F-15s and F-16s. I built all the bombs and missiles for them.  I returned in 2010 and was blown away on how much PHX has grown since I left!

Ummm, that doesn't look like an F35. The 2 horizontal tail surfaces should have a fairly sizable gap between them and that one appears to have a single vertical stabilizer.

You may be right Troy. I couldn't see the aircraft it at all looking at the phone and didnt pay much attention afterwords. The F 35's have a split tail, jet exhausts between them with two vertical stabilizers. This may not be an F 35 in that video. I will try to get a better vid of the F 35 when I can. Every weekday they return to base right over my back yard. Those suckers rattle the windows when they are low enough.

The early F-16's had the P&W F-100 engine....problem prone like all P&W turbofans. Newer versions have the GE F-110.

That was definitely an F-16.... I have worked on too many, launched too many, armed too many and recovered too many NOT to say, that is an F-16... That's my final answer.
May not be assigned to the 56th Fighter Wing, but doesn't mean it wasn't there for an exercise or a transit flight cross-country..

All larger USAF bases have Transient Alert which means any USAF aircraft can stop in any time for gas, food and lodging. Just because you see a particular type of aircraft arriving/departing a base doesn't mean that type is stationed there.

Four hundred billion for 2457 f 35's. That's almost one hundred sixty three million each. I think our govt. needs Donald Trump in charger of the money.

Of course, this price tag is up dramatically from 2014.

I thought some of the recent price increases was because no one else is now wanting to buy it. 

Also interesting was how they state they want more agile programs.  This one was targeted to be one fighter for all missions instead of planes specifically designed for missions.  Seems like the only things that turn out as good jack of all trades are the ones that get there accidentally.

I forgot to add that we will be paying one trillion dollars for the upkeep on the f 35 into the foreseeable future.

The 14 was too slow.  The F-18 Hornet and more advanced aircraft out ran and out maneuvered the 14.

This time I made sure they were F35's. They are coming back to Luke airbase, done for the day. They are not as impressive coming in as they are taking off under full power. They are still pretty loud when they bank and turn the tail at me. They come in like this most weekday afternoons and sometimes on the weekends as well. When they come back in the late evening it is not so enjoyable. It is kind of like have a rail road track near your house, after a while you pay no attention to the noise.

Pretty cool! Lot different than the last low fly over I saw.  We had a old Ford tri-motor fly past work.  It was below the cloud cover and at first was like nah that can't be.

144th fighter wing out of Fresno. Their own f 35. Not. Just kidding. I think they are still using F 15's
