Hi All - Anyone have a Daytona with an original factory rear speaker? Is it coded on the fender tag (must be original tag).....R31?

Thanks!

Dave Kanofsky

I do!

I don't have a shot of my fender tag handy, but here is the build sheet (click on the link and scroll to the bottom):

Thanks Dave!! Would love to see if it appears on your tag. A pic would be awesome.  :2thumbs:

R31 wouldn't show up on a 1969 Fender Tag.  It would only be on the build sheet.  There were certain option codes that don't show up on Tags like a rear window defroster.  Saying that, some plants put on different options than others.  a 1970 LA tag would have a defogger listed but a St. Louis tag would not.

Jims one owner Daytona think had rear speaker and here it is pictures of holes  http://www.dodgecharger.com/forum/index.php/topic,84332.msg1080720.html#msg1080720

OK, an obviously non-expert question, but was the rear speaker option different between the Daytona and just a regular Charger?  I guess they modified the actual package tray shape, but wouldn't that be the only difference?  And was a regular piece cut for the Daytona, or was it a specially made piece?

Ksquared, I believe the speaker option is the same. The sheet metal package tray part is the same, but the package tray "board" is different on a Daytona/Charger 500. It's actually a bigger piece than than the standard Charger package tray board as it extends out through the original window opening.

Here's the rear speaker deck on my C500 (same as a Daytona).  The speaker code didn't appear on the fender tag, but since it had the R21 AM/FM, the rear speaker was probably included in the package?

if you got anything but the standard AM radio, you automatically got the rear speaker

That's a good question. Everything I see in the books for R31 is an extra. The only time I see speakers mentioned is for the AM -8 Track - which does state you get the 3 speaker dash.....nothing about the rear(s). In 70-71 R32 became available.....dual rear speakers.
My immediate thought is that the rear speaker option is not mandatory with any radio.....would love to see a more in-depth pricing guide if one exists.

For the AM-8 Track (R22) radio, according to this original window sticker from a 69 Charger R/T SE, the rear speaker was still another option and not included.

I pulled out the 1969 Charger Confidential Price Bulletin and some other factory paperwork, and the R31 Rear Seat Speaker was an available extra-cost option ($15.15 MSRP) with any of the radios offered in 1969... including the R11 2-watt AM.

It was also not part of any "A" sales code option groups or special option packages, etc.  The only qualifier listed for R31 is that a car must have one of that particular model's available radios.
