:shruggy:  I am out of the loop on engine values these days.  I have a disassembled 1976 440 engine I have everything for the motor.  I pulled the motor out of a truck and took it apart a few years ago. The cylinder walls were slimed up with grease for storage.  I am going to post it on my local Craigslist.  Thanks for your thoughts.

the last one I sold in the KCMO area was a  complete 1975 440 for $250.00.  that was about 2 years ago. I have known the buyer for years and gave him a little break because he only wanted the bare block.
the last 383 I sold, I was only able to get 100 bucks.

Value depends a lot on whether the crank is cast or forged ('76 is most likely cast unless the truck was standard trans). Forged cranks are more desirable and bring a higher price.
Pardon me but my karma just ran over your dogma.
